Unique and challenging. I am able to wall climb by holding the directional key that is facing towards the wall and spamming space. Is that an intentional feature?

Dude, I know you've got a platform hidden up there above the right vertical line. I found the secret ones behind the wall the the left, but getting onto the top line is impossible.
