I watched a playthrough of Gnoll Way Home and Gainfully Employed. When I saw Pottymouth, I figured I should at least read it myself, and I'm glad I did. The artstyle is so incredible, I love how Koorivlf does linework and hatching. It's a very soft touch that gives the game a similarly soft vibe. I love how slinky-like Dixon is.
Before I get lost in my thoughts, I replayed it real quick to remember how awesome the intro scene is. It's just so good.
The story's primary twist genuinely caught me by surprise but I like how the metaphor develops in the story, and the ultimate takeaway is very sweet. Dixon's internal monologue is supremely funny and the technical style of animating his swears is a super good touch. It is true; he kinda sucks.
I think how he behaves throughout the story can sometimes feel a little like a flipped switch, like his brand of flustered subbiness works in opposition to his brand of pessimistic brattiness, as opposed to both complementing each other. However, this issue is minor to begin with (especially considering the game's scope), and it also pays off for a really good climax, so I can't complain. Dixon isn't the person for nuance, anyways.
A brief mention has to be extended to Otto, for looking so cute. He has the most coiffed hair in the world, and he looks so clean. Those glasses are my everything. I love him dearly.
There's so many cute touches. "Oh wait the nametag says 'Otto'," "Hunk of Herculean Himbology." Genuinely, "My mask slips." is a very powerful line. I loved reading this, and I look forward to a lot more :D
