Ranked from 7 ratings. Score is adjusted from raw score by the median number of ratings per game in the jam.

Did you work in a team?
Two members, Both are artists, but one is also a programmer.

Was the resolution a challenge?
Finding a good character to screen ratio was quite difficult. We overcame this by shifting the camera to the direction the player was facing in for maximum visibility. It's a little wonky at first, but she gets the job done.

What did you learn?
We learned to better manage time compared to our last jam entry. We knew where to spend our time, and where to cut corners.

Really nice game! I enjoyed playing it very much, the graphics and the audio is excellent! I'm missing Linux version, although it worked well under Wine. Also, I would appreciate a progress saving system. The camera seems a bit weird to me. Very nice job!

Very high polish on the art and audio The character is detailed and has a lot of personality (I like how he actually looks up when you hold "up"). It really feels like the beginnings of a professional game!

My only two points of contention are that the camera is a bit tiring on the eyes, and I think if you're hoping to market this game, you might have trouble with the word "pimp", but otherwise it's got a lot of promise.

I just tested the game and I can say that it is without a doubt, by far, one of the best of the jam, creative gameplay, very, very good graphics, a lot of attention to detail with the sounds ... it is without a doubt a game that could be one of the best of all who have joined this jam

HUGE thanks man! We're really glad that you enjoyed it, a lot of time and effort went into this project! Be sure to stay up to date with the game if you're interested! If it does well during the jam, we plan on expanding it by removing the 64x64 camera limit and adding a ton of new features, including better physics/movement mechanics and even a level editor!

Wish to see that

The artwork in this is very pretty & the player feels good to control! I did find that the combination of the full-screen scaling with the camera moving hurt my eyes a little. Also, as one gamemaker user to another, you should package your files as a ZIP instead of using the installer option! Overall, nice job though!

Developer

Because of how small the game file was, packaging it into a ZIP only saved 0.1MB of space, so we didnt find it necessary. Is there another benefit to this?

And huge thanks for the feedback & criticism! Very helpful man, and we are glad that you enjoyed the game!

There's a few reasons! You'll often get windows firewall stopping it from running with spooky messages about how it could be a threat, I'm assuming because you're not a verified publisher, but I'm not super sure about that. Also If you don't generate project images then you get the default GMS2 images which takes away from the polish of the end result. But most importantly, a zip is way more convenient for the end user when all they have to do is unzip and play! :D

My friend rsvp asap is right here, it is more convenient to use a zip, I know that this is not a virus or something similar, obviously, but Windows does send a somewhat aggressive warning message.
In addition, being an installer makes it lazy to test the game, the best practice is to make your game playable from the browser, that way anyone can simply click and play without downloading or installing anything, win win

I completely agree that making it into a browser game would be a lot more convenient for the user, but I've read that GMS's browser plugin sucks horribly, and I didn't want to waste time trying to figure it out seeing as I've never messed with it before. If anyone has any tips to make it a viable option, be sure to let us know and we will surely implement Browser Support!

HUGE thank you for the tip man, we'll be sure to use .ZIPs in the future then, I had no clue it was such a big deal! You've been very helpful, thank you for your time bro!
