The team was amazing!

Was the resolution a challenge?
This was the team's first time working with PICO8, which we chose because it lent itself to the low-rez theme, and it was challenging to work with its restrictions. The art also had to be very simplified in order to still be readable at such a small resolution, which resulted in a lot more iteration than usual to make sure that the visuals were understandable.

What did you learn?
For two of our members this was their first jam and finished game, so the whole thing was a new experience. This jam taught us how to scope appropriately and work within restrictions.

Well I've learned I am terrible at staying on beat. It was a fun challenge to match what you were trying to accomplish in the game to the beat of the music. Enjoyed it a lot. Love the title of the game.

Funny thing, our composer said that too :)

Congrats on your team entry, it looks and sounds great!

Was it hard to get the bar to match the music timing?

Developer(+1)

Surprisingly not! The PICO-8 lets you query the current position in the music, so using that and a little bit of modular math it was pretty straightforward.

This is a fun game, reminds me a lot of the fun I've had with Icy tower. The power ups are a nice touch!
