I second all the comments made by thebigtabletop, and would just like to add that the typography and layout, although simple, really meshed well with the atmosphere I think you're trying to evoke with this game. An impressive amount of work for the time period. Good luck!

thank you for taking the time and reviewing my game

Nice job! I was hoping I'd see an alien invasion in one of the entries and here it is! I had a few thoughts while reading:

  • Your intro was very solid. I knew exactly what your game was and what the players were going to do. I really appreciated that you included a table of contents. Really upped the presentation.
  • Some of the more narrative bits could have used more time (48 hours... still recovering myself, I get it) and more description to set the tone of the invasion. One section, I felt the tone strongest was the Vena tech (in Items).
  • Your developmental traits were pretty cool. I wasn't as sure about the Learn one as it might halt player progression. But perhaps not!
  • I wanted the beasts, survivors, and Vena to all basically use the same character template... which they more or less did. I suppose when running the game you'd just X out stats that a certain NPC didn't have.
  • You have so many mechanics that I found myself really enjoying. The time mechanic was felt cinematic. I always love when someone puts in a wound mechanic that punishes lost health and yours was solid. The age as level was a nice touch. Experiences and horrors I actually wanted more depth just to see where else it could go. And the EXP buy system.... jeez, you packed a lot in during the Jam period!

Again, congrats on finishing! You really packed some cool things in for not a lot of time.

I... COMPLETELY ... get where you are coming from haha. There were a few things that I knew I wanted to put in but was literally falling asleep at my computer. Like character sheets and a bonus-for-a-cost mechanic that just aren't there. Oh well 48 hours and we did it!!!
