Very cool and fun. Loved running over zombies. Need more of that. Had no problems with performance. Car controls were a little awkward but nothing major. Get some great quick paced music in there would help with the atmosphere. VO was nice. Found the camera to be a bit janky, clipping through the world, but workable. The UI was a little chaotic but maybe that was the point. Really liked it overall.

Developer

yup agree on most of that. I just kept adding to the UI and it got silly :D I definitely want more running over Zs so hopefully doing a less graphics version with simpler models will help that. Also the spawner sneed work to keep up... they're fancy but that all takes time.

Overall I like it. It has a cool art style and attitude. Decent music and ran well. I only managed to get 2 small things of zombies to spawn before I collected all the spawners, shot some ships down and got some goo. It didn't seem like things were happening after that, just an empty city. Maybe I did something wrong...

Developer (1 edit)

thanks for that... interesting the only way i can imagine that happening (outside some craziness) is if you were moving through very slowly and the zombies despawned as they spawned (the spawn distance is a bit further than how far they can be from the vehicle because i had to assume the player was moving). That's something i definitely want to make more robust in the next version.

Carmageddon indeed. Took me back.

More complete than most of the games you get in a Game Jam. Great job all round.

Developer

thanks. I definitely crunched a little hard in the last couple days but it came out well.

Nice car controller, models & fun carmageddon style gameplay! Got extremely laggy as the game progressed, but overall enjoyed it! Well done

Developer(+1)

cheers. the car controller is NWH vehicle physics, it's a pretty great asset (IMO) with a lot of flexibility... little realistic but you can mess with it to get more arcadey feel like I did.

I think the real lag is coming from the physics and the amount of enemies. Definitely needs a lot more optimisation.

Carmageddon was definitely my primary inspiration, i dont feel like anyone's really done it right since, they always concentrate on the cars smashing cars, and not the cars smashing pedestrians.

Played on stream run really well and was super fun to play. You should be proud that you managed this in such a short space of time. Great game!.

Developer

Cheers :) I am pretty happy with a lot of it. Needs a ton of optimisation but I achieved a lot of my goals.

Ramming the dead while shouting Aussie swears? I'll say start your engines!

Buut, I got massive performance problems which did leave an impact on my experience. Pun intended.

Developer

Yes it need s a powerful machine to run decently. Im not sure how much of that is just what it needs, and how much could be optimised more. Was definitely an experiment. I _do_ want to add some more um... flavour :D

Dude. REALLY fun. Loved squishing those weirdos. Nice, smooth controls once I got the hang of them.

Developer(+1)

vroom ! yes i had a LOT of trouble tuning the vehicle so it was easy-ish to drive ... still flips a bit too easy but vroom squish

great feel, scary but in a fun way. felt badass while playing it, great job

Developer(+1)

Cheers, I thought it was pretty fun myself. Just needs more zombies.

Developer

Couple quick notes here since no one reads the descriptions :D Game is pretty heavy, even on a 2080ti it got under 30fps sometimes (usually 50-80).

If you flip, there is an autocorrect, it doesn't always seem to work.

There are some missing colliders, I know :D

If you restart (go to menu and start again you may need to mash escape a couple times to get it going again... i think because technically it's paused still if youve gone from the pause menu to the main menu)
