once the thing is chasing you there is nowhere to hide? I guess you just keep running and try not to get cornered? good job even though I was not good enough :)

Interesting. You can keep clicking on the chests and they'll keep doing their thing. Also, once you get the treasure activated you can still see the particle effects and so it's easy to not get the mimic. The score doesn't deal well with numbers over 99. Also, after you die, it doesn't reset the score, after you get it right it adds to the last score (even though it *looks* like it was at zero). It'd be cool if instead of the chests fading into the ground that you did a little animation that looked like you were walking into the next room to find the next 3 chests. Maybe to make things a little more interesting you could click around the room and find hidden 1 shot feathers that you could use to tickle a chest to see if it is the mimic. Or maybe you can buy those with gold from previous runs. Anyway, nice job on having a complete game loop :)

so fresh and so clean!

Nice! Been a long time since I played the old Rampage game, but this is pretty close. I had trouble with the small thin building, and it's a little hard to get on the buildings, but overall it works pretty good. nice job!

Thanks! I'm glad that you enjoyed playing enough to return!

Thanks for the detailed feedback! I'm glad that it is playable enough, it turns out that even with "simple" mechanics of Vampire Survivors it's a LOT of work. :) I feel like I barely got MVP done in time for the jam. Other than the health potion I left on the field at the beginning, they actually only randomly spawn in chests from bosses. They are also not very strong. Definitely something I'll be adding in a future release. I also agree about the invisible walls, they were something I slapped on last minute, ideally I'll have some tile based barriers in place too. I also need to either tweak the spawning or let mobs pass through those, because they get stuck on the other side (currently it just spawns them outside the camera viewport. Also adding a little bit of time in between waves is a good idea. The waves currently change every minute, but they just change mob types and spawn rate, no break. There are of course a myriad of other issues as well. I'm hoping to release an updated version this weekend with a lot of improvements. :) Thanks for playing!

https://github.com/bsparks/pygame-easter-jam it's on the game page, but just in case. if you don't have windows, you can use the source.

the controls are good and the graphics are nice. it's too hard and frustrating for me though.. maybe I'll try again later :)

this one was good fun! I survived 7 rounds.

I'm not sure what is happening. got an error:

 File "g:\Dev\Python\easter jam games\For_pygame_easter_game_jam\python\main.py", line 132, in <module>
    FoodY[i] = random.randint(50, 150)
    ~~~~~^^^
TypeError: 'int' object does not support item assignment
the zip didn't have a .exe in it, the .rar did though. I extracted both into the same folder and it seemed to work :shrug: ... I got to 79 when the ladders ran out, I guess that's the end?
it's fun and colorful. I like it. you have to match 3+ with the color you have, then immediately you need to match more with the next color you have. the timer will start after your first match, so you have to keep going. the main problem is that at some point you won't have the ability to make a match 3. I think probably it takes some very careful planning to keep it going, but that is very hard because it is random and the timer is short. maybe let the timer be longer to start and pickup speed after
thanks, I'm glad you liked it and had fun, that really means a lot :)
good job, fun to play, especially when it gets up to high speeds, though I think after a certain amount it became impossible to control, or maybe I just wasn't good enough :)
the dynamic music as others have mentioned is also very cool!
Thanks, but I didn't have time.
great job on this one. it's fun and challenging. the music is good and the graphics are nicely done. also the theme fits right in literally able to suffer from a particle overdose!
interesting game. the angry children are difficult to lure to the teacher,  I think they go faster diagonally...
yay! starting out day 1 with a good prize! :D
nice! love this one!
oh cool! a fighting game! I had a few issues due to resolution and whatnot, but it was playable! I did end up just button mashing though. Love the variety of characters. Good job!
Love this game! Was a little difficult because I can't change my resolution, at least that's what I'm going with :D Love the death messages, which I saw a lot of hahha it was definitely fekkin lag!
Ok, I got in! Even though there are 2 characters to choose from, you obviously don't like your veggies :) Amazing that you built a MMORPG for a game jam! Wow!
I liked it a lot! Music was pretty great, and I like what you did with the atmosphere. Bonus pts for using Ink! :D I think it broke at the end, just a black screen, which didn't really feel like an ending. I also would have liked sometimes to speed up the text when I was able to read faster than it was typing, and yet a couple of times it faded out to the next screen before I was fully ready. I also like how you included non-fiction elements in there, very cool.
I played until year 13 of 12 and decided that I didn't understand. :D
I just also tried setting the cmdline params -ResX=1920 -ResY=1080 -WINDOWED and that indeed made it smaller, but still no dice on getting the actual VR to work
Well I tried to play via Quest 2 over link cable, but it wouldn't work. I think *maybe* it's because I have a ultra wide monitor. I got a out of video memory error.
I have a i7-9700K 3.6Ghz, 32gb ram, and a 1060 GTX 6gb (really wish there wasn't a GPU shortage right now)
I really like this one. Glad to have the options for sound. I survived 6 waves. It was a bit chaotic, but that's good. I loved the powers. Forgot (if possible) how to use potions. And of course, chickens!
Overall I like it. It has a cool art style and attitude. Decent music and ran well. I only managed to get 2 small things of zombies to spawn before I collected all the spawners, shot some ships down and got some goo. It didn't seem like things were happening after that, just an empty city. Maybe I did something wrong...
Hmm tried to play now and says can't find the world server
Pretty cool concept. I got murdered :) The wagons would often carry the attacking goblins or whatever along with them (which I suppose is realistic) making it quite difficult to chase and kill them :)
This is a pretty fun reverse tower defense! I appreciate that you had options for volume and resolution. Good job!
what did you use for the character controller?
I love the initial cut scene. I couldn't figure out who was the mutants though. Everyone wanted to punch me.
I haven’t played again yet but I suspect it is because some guy came running from around a rock with a torch and sword in his hands. I assumed he was a bandit and promptly murdered him mid stride. He was headed in the direction of about five wicker people who just stood there. They weren’t there when I arrived, and eventually I attacked and killed them while they stood there.
I love this movie series! This was a fun version of it to play! I think while more difficult animation wise, it would be good to do a 3rd person perspective... at least I'd love to see a Cube game with that. Anyway, it was fun and once I actually looked at the instructions on how to climb ladders and crouch it was fine to play!
Very interesting! The wicker things are cool! Also, wow, voice acting!! I think I glitched it out a little at the camp, the wicker people didn't attack. I'll have to try again. I like it though, great job! Oh and I think it would be good if you can go into the plugins and disable VR so that it doesn't try to open SteamVR every time with the game :)
This is not an easy game :) There was a nice variety of monsters. I liked the UMA customization. The music was also good. My companions died fighting the crawler zombies that are not easy to hit at all. In the end I just had to run away. Good job!
