once the thing is chasing you there is nowhere to hide? I guess you just keep running and try not to get cornered? good job even though I was not good enough :)

Interesting. You can keep clicking on the chests and they'll keep doing their thing. Also, once you get the treasure activated you can still see the particle effects and so it's easy to not get the mimic. The score doesn't deal well with numbers over 99. Also, after you die, it doesn't reset the score, after you get it right it adds to the last score (even though it *looks* like it was at zero). It'd be cool if instead of the chests fading into the ground that you did a little animation that looked like you were walking into the next room to find the next 3 chests. Maybe to make things a little more interesting you could click around the room and find hidden 1 shot feathers that you could use to tickle a chest to see if it is the mimic. Or maybe you can buy those with gold from previous runs. Anyway, nice job on having a complete game loop :)
Thanks for the detailed feedback! I'm glad that it is playable enough, it turns out that even with "simple" mechanics of Vampire Survivors it's a LOT of work. :) I feel like I barely got MVP done in time for the jam. Other than the health potion I left on the field at the beginning, they actually only randomly spawn in chests from bosses. They are also not very strong. Definitely something I'll be adding in a future release. I also agree about the invisible walls, they were something I slapped on last minute, ideally I'll have some tile based barriers in place too. I also need to either tweak the spawning or let mobs pass through those, because they get stuck on the other side (currently it just spawns them outside the camera viewport. Also adding a little bit of time in between waves is a good idea. The waves currently change every minute, but they just change mob types and spawn rate, no break. There are of course a myriad of other issues as well. I'm hoping to release an updated version this weekend with a lot of improvements. :) Thanks for playing!
https://github.com/bsparks/pygame-easter-jam it's on the game page, but just in case. if you don't have windows, you can use the source.
it's fun and colorful. I like it. you have to match 3+ with the color you have, then immediately you need to match more with the next color you have. the timer will start after your first match, so you have to keep going. the main problem is that at some point you won't have the ability to make a match 3. I think probably it takes some very careful planning to keep it going, but that is very hard because it is random and the timer is short. maybe let the timer be longer to start and pickup speed after
I liked it a lot! Music was pretty great, and I like what you did with the atmosphere. Bonus pts for using Ink! :D I think it broke at the end, just a black screen, which didn't really feel like an ending. I also would have liked sometimes to speed up the text when I was able to read faster than it was typing, and yet a couple of times it faded out to the next screen before I was fully ready. I also like how you included non-fiction elements in there, very cool.
Overall I like it. It has a cool art style and attitude. Decent music and ran well. I only managed to get 2 small things of zombies to spawn before I collected all the spawners, shot some ships down and got some goo. It didn't seem like things were happening after that, just an empty city. Maybe I did something wrong...
I haven’t played again yet but I suspect it is because some guy came running from around a rock with a torch and sword in his hands. I assumed he was a bandit and promptly murdered him mid stride. He was headed in the direction of about five wicker people who just stood there. They weren’t there when I arrived, and eventually I attacked and killed them while they stood there.
I love this movie series! This was a fun version of it to play! I think while more difficult animation wise, it would be good to do a 3rd person perspective... at least I'd love to see a Cube game with that. Anyway, it was fun and once I actually looked at the instructions on how to climb ladders and crouch it was fine to play!
Very interesting! The wicker things are cool! Also, wow, voice acting!! I think I glitched it out a little at the camp, the wicker people didn't attack. I'll have to try again. I like it though, great job! Oh and I think it would be good if you can go into the plugins and disable VR so that it doesn't try to open SteamVR every time with the game :)
