I love the old school FPS style artwork. Love the intro cutscene and ambient sounds/effects as well. The game captivates and pulls inside the player like a true metrodvania. I'm stuck at some point though.  In the area where there's electriciy on the ground, right before Erebus ship.

It's the best and most complete game of the jam that i have played so far. Great work!

Thanks for playing! I spent quite a while working on the ambiance, so I'm glad that worked out.

There are a few branching paths, so you can go to another area and come back. :)

Super sick art, and great sound. Wasn't able to finish sadly as I got stuck on the Coeus boss.

Going in, I was worried it would be difficult to find my bearings due to the retro style, but your map is very good, and there are plenty of landmarks around to find your way which is great. I do have a couple of nitpicks. I think the weapon sprite is a bit distracting since it doesn't move and the overheat meter doesn't fill by pixel. Also, my weapon kept overheating because I expected to have to stop once the meter got to the top and not the second to last layer. I think the larger projectiles from the Coeus and Shield boss are very difficult to avoid, and feel like they spawn right in front of you.

Overall though really great job, and had a lot of fun with this one :))

Thanks for playing! I'm glad the map worked out, since it took awhile to get it to work.

You're right about the overheat, what you visually see is a bit delayed from what's happening under the hood. I'll keep it in mind for a future sequel.

The COEUS boss's projectiles should be shot instead of dodged. Including an earlier section with the missiles to communicate how the player has to shoot them would be a good idea. Also the colliders for the larger projectiles could probably be smaller.

Shooting them crossed my mind, but I ended up trying to block them with the shield instead.

Ahh that makes sense. That's probably a natural thing to think. I suspect you'd have run out of the bio for the shield.

I played your game and had a lot of fun with it, good job.
