For the most part, it's pretty good and I like the general aesthetic, but the eye tentacles are quite possibly the worst "normal" enemy I have seen in any game ever.

The eye tentacles are definitely too hard to be continually used as they were. Enemy balance was hard to figure out in a week and if I were to make a larger fangame I'd definitely use them in moderation or maybe just have them shoot slower and have an actual tell when they are about to shoot.

Atlantis feels like a really fitting choice for a Catlevania + water themed game, so kudos for that.  Don't know where the main song is from, but it feels appropriately nautical and Castlevania-y. Took me a while to figure out stairs, and hoo boy is the gravity strong, but overall a fun experience.

The songs are listed in the credits on the game page if you want to listen to them. The rest of the Castlevania ReBirth OST is great. Also the gravity being strong is because of the jumping and falling being near exact replicas of the original NES game, since I was trying to be mostly faithful to it. Thanks for playing!

I just played your game. You nailed the NES mechanics. Is there a way to get the source code. I wish to make a game but I can't nail the whip hit box mechanic and the stairs. There are a couple of things you may want to add if it does not affect the coding, Simon has a reverse jump in the original game. Essentially if you are in mid walk animation and quickly press in the opposite+up direction and jump he will do what is most likely the idea of a back flip. Other is a kneeling animation if he drops from a great height. Great work dude.

Yeah, enemy balance was hard to figure out quickly. I could've just reused enemies from Castlevania 1 but I wanted to make some new stuff. Also the flipping was made silly on purpose as I thought it'd be funny. If I were to continue with the code I have made so far for a larger fangame, I would probably do the actual death animation.
