Hi. My name is Bob though some call me Bdubbs or Tripps. I am an aspiring game maker albeit a very novice one. For many years now I have been trying to create an action RPG platform game in the veins of Castlevania, Zelda II, Battle of Olympus, Prince of Persia exetree exetree.

Having recently played Simon Goes to Atlantis I was excited. This game has the character movement I am looking to implement in my game. Namely a fixed jump arc with momentum, a weapon hit box that has the same movement properties as the attack animation object and the stair mechanic. Is there a version of the game that has the source code. I would like to make my character movement follow this model as it is NES authentic. I have emailed the author but is there any other steps I could take?

The mechanics are very close to authentic NES. There are a few things that you may want to consider adding if you are feeling inspired. There is a jump backwards move which is most likely a glitch and the hard landing crouch when falling from a great height. Is there source code to this? I am having trouble with jumping and having my attack hitbox following as well as getting the stairs to work. You did an excellent job.

I just played your game. You nailed the NES mechanics. Is there a way to get the source code. I wish to make a game but I can't nail the whip hit box mechanic and the stairs. There are a couple of things you may want to add if it does not affect the coding, Simon has a reverse jump in the original game. Essentially if you are in mid walk animation and quickly press in the opposite+up direction and jump he will do what is most likely the idea of a back flip. Other is a kneeling animation if he drops from a great height. Great work dude.
