Uploaded a fix addressing a couple issues.

  • Turning has been improved
  • Support for non-QWERTY keyboard layouts
  • Added matter-display next to ship for easier viewing

Another space shooter, but I liked the visual style and enemy/trap logic. However, turning was too difficult. Keep making games!

Developer

Thanks for playing! Wish I had the time to push a patch for turn responsiveness cause it seems to be a big pain point, but we did want to experiment with difficult movement.

Turning has been improved, hopefully it is a bit more to your liking.

The turning was entirely too floaty for my taste. It made it very difficult to control.

Developer

Sorry to hear that, another player had the same opinion about the turning. Did you ever upgrade your ship's turning while playing? The turning becomes very rigid and easy to control as you upgrade it.

Developer

Thanks for playing regardless!

The choice for the spaceships direction to carry momentum is such a more interesting choice than how I approached the same concept. It makes the game-play so much more cerebral.

Developer

Thank you, I think that’s exactly what we were going for!

Idk if it was just me, but it was extremely laggy on my computer. However, from what I can see, the game looks very good!

Developer

That’s strange, sorry about that! Can’t really diagnose what’s wrong, but on Firefox on Windows it seems to work well? I’ve provided a Windows executable if you’re interested in that, thanks for reminding me to do so.

Very interesting game. The least enjoyable part about it for me was turning so I could face thing, perhaps something more like a twin-stick shooter would have been better, or a decelerate button so I could stop and reorient myself. Aside from the controls I greatly enjoyed the surprising amount of content for a game-jam game and made it pretty far in the game.

Developer

Sorry to hear that you didn't like the turning. Getting the controls just right was something we worked hard on and put a lot of thought into. Did you at least try upgrading your ship's turning at all? At max level you will notice that the turning is very snappy and responsive. Nonetheless, thank you playing!

We made the dubious choice of starting the player out quite weak, locking the good movement behind the first few turn upgrades - might be a lesson learned for next time! Thanks for playing!

Survived for 3 mins! The game felt very fluid and nice.
