loved the game and the artstyle. pretty impressive for a java game ngl. only problem is that it's kidna repetitive

Developer

thanks! sorry for the repetitiveness, i hadn't gotten the gameplay figured out very well ;w

It took me a while to figure out how to collect fuel, but the gameplay and concept were really interesting!

Developer

thanks! i prolly should've made fuel a little easier to understand ;w;

Pretty good game! The presentation was great and the movement and art style was very interesting. Overall well done :)

Developer(+1)

thanks a ton! the presentation is easily the thing i'm most proud of with this project, and i'm thinking about making another game with a similar style to it (likely set right after this game, too)

This game already has a lot going for it.

  • The 3D area looks very cool
  • The fisheye effect from the helmet is an awesome effect
  • The reflection of the eyes is a great touch
  • I just like your animated logo

However, with no tutorial I have no idea what I'm doing, the 2d portion is so dark I can't figure out what to interact with, and I'm unclear on what the machines in the ship are supposed to do. From your other comments it sounds like the game gets really interesting as it goes on, so I'm very curious to experience that. Maybe with a tutorial, or even just pointers on the game page I'd be able to see more of the game's content! Great atmosphere though!

Developer

i did try to get a bit of a tutorial in via my notification system (text in top right)

also the machines

  • computer terminal near the door runs a flash in the fuel tank, stunning the parasite inside that eats your fuel
    • also takes 30s to charge
  • other machine at the end of the hall is the ship controls and starts/stops the ship
    • gives a notification when you do so as wel

and if you're still having difficulties figuring out the 2d area, there's a small asteroid to the left of the ship that you stand near to fill the fuel bar

Forget to rate but was fun in gameplay

Also do rate mine!

Developer

thanks for playing and eventually getting around to rating lmao

Really cool graphics and atmosphere, big potential but needs more gameplay, slowly managing two bars gets boring fast.

Developer(+1)

thanks on the graphics and atmosphere!

the gameplay's probably lacking because it took me a while to figure out how exactly the game was going to play out

by the time i figured that out, i was nearing the deadline -w-

i did add a few things beyond just managing 2 bars

  • after halfway through, you have a chance to get toxins when entering your ship, which you have to leave and vent out to continue breathing
  • there's a parasite in your fuel tank which you have to flash every now and then, which gets more aggressive 1-1.5km into the journey

Oh so that's what flashing did, I thought it just temporarily lowers the rate fuel drains at

Developer

yeah maybe i banked a little too hard on people reading the notifications ;w;

Also, if you played before the submission deadline, the game has been updated, so please play the updated version before giving feedback

Thought I'd put how my game follows the theme & prerequisite here since people might not read the game page

| THEME: Islands (Island can mean isolation metaphorically)

| PREREQUISITE: You start with nothing (No memories, no fuel, no idea where this 'destination' is leading you)
