Use of the limitation
I tried to keep the art assets as small as possible (8x8 pixels for the most part). Also the objective is to restore the ecosystem with the smallest number of organisms possible.

Nice game. It was rly fun. I think that something like a meter when you hover on a tile and it would say how much it would change the ecosystem’s health. Anyway Great Game!

This is a great concept and I love these kinds of puzzle games, I managed to win on my fourth try but only after reading your comments.

A few more hints and better feedback on how placements affect the score would go a long way to easing the frustration as it wasn't really clear what I was trying to achieve until I was already deep enough into a run that the percentage changes from each placement were too small to tell what I'd done right/wrong. Even something as simple as letting us know the score we need to get to to win would allow players to make the decision to just reset when they get to a point where they're clearly not going to make it rather than getting more annoyed by continuing an unwinnable game.

Quality of life stuff like options to rewind turns, replace items and reset the game would help smooth out the experience too.

Overall though this was a nice little chill time and very impressive given the timeframe!

Cool idea! At first I didn’t get it (placed stuff randomly) and thought “oh too bad that would’ve been so cool if depending on the surrounding you get more points!”… then I read the help section ._.” WELL DONE! Only thing missing imho is to allow for replacement of one tile by another. But it could very well be this way on purpose. I would have loved to see a score on top of the completion % also! Like, you need to do X to reach 100%, but you can go further to grind your score.

Very cool anyway, enjoyed it! <3

The art looked really good and the occasional seagull noise made it feel like I was really in a coastal environment!

Cool idea and nice art style! I didn't find it 100% clear which placements were best from the rules as there didn't seem to be a consistent change in health, but that may be my fault!

Thanks for playing!

If I had the time I would have added some more visual feedback when organisms receive a positive or negative effect. I think that would have made the relationships more clear.

Also the score is scaled by the number of creatures so simply adding more creatures won’t increase it. This was done to encourage the player to find and make use of the positive effects rather than filling the available space.

That sounds like a great idea if you ever have time to work further on the game!

That makes sense, and I did really like the concept I just didn't fully understand the scoring system. I think your suggestion would clear up any confusion people might have.

Thanks for playing!

I really enjoyed making the art for this one. Working with a limited sprite size is a fun challenge.

I got the music from here.

Awesome stuff! I was able to hit around 80~%, interesting puzzle game, consistent art and the simple rule set is real clever

Thanks for playing!

I agree that the win condition could have been adjusted slightly. So far only one person I have spoken to has successfully completed it.

I don't really think a win condition for a game like this is totally necessary, I took my 80ish percent as a sort of "highscore" instead of a progression metric.
