Cute art, and good harp music.

The concept is good, and the WASD + Mouse control scheme is perfect, but the difficulty could be higher for the basket dude. I’m not sure what happens if you don’t pick up the ivy, but it hardly ever happens, because the basket dude is super fast and easy to control.

I got to around 90 ivy in the basket (1 out of basket) and had 6 or so vines growing. Sadly, I could not read the Game Over screen because I pressed space at that moment to cut some more ivy (a timer would be good).

On the plus side, it has buttons for pausing the game and muting the music, which are nice little pluses. Maybe the Esc should pause the game too, to avoid moving the basket over to the right. Overall, well done, especially for a one-person team.

This is really great feedback! I agree with everything you said. Maybe the one with the basket could have a maximum speed, so it won't be so easy to control. Not picking up the ivy just gives a different endgame text, so I'm still thinking about how I can change that. A timer would be very useful, thanks for the reminder. Using ESC as pause is smart as well. Thank you for the comment and feedback, this is really helpful!

This is a very pretty game, with a great concept, and a solid implementation! I don't have much to say here, I think you knocked this one out of the park.

Developer(+1)

Ahh thank you so much!!! I am really glad you think so!

Very nice concept and use of the limitation, I think the only thing to improve is the visual feedback when collecting.

Developer

Yeah, I agree with you. I was afraid of breaking my game during the jam so I postponed that, hahah! Thank you for your comment and feedback ^_^

Echoing the sentiment that the art is super cute and the music is very chill! The simple premise reminded me of Game & Watch games. One thing is that it took me a while to notice that pressing the button once was enough to do two snips.

Developer

Ooh that is interesting feedback!! Thinking better about that now, I can understand it is a weird feature.  I might change that later or at least rethink it. Thank you very much for your comment!

The art of this game is very nice and cute. It's like a very chill game to play. Although I got to say that the controls for the keyboard and mouse did start to feel that I was playing hand twister as I kept on playing. But very good job overall.

Developer

Thank you very much for your feedback! I did noticed a lot of people having trouble with the controls as well. I honestly think it is part of the mechanic itself, but I want to make an option for the person to choose their own controls, so thanks for pointing it out!

finally a game that is NOT ultra hard. I was able to win

T_T

for that alone, this is great!

Developer

Hahahah thank you so much!!! I am glad it is not hard. I have trouble setting difficulty, because after playing for so long, it becomes easy to me. In any case, I prefer to make easy games! I also found some of the other games in this jam very hard, and it frustrates me a lot :( I am glad you enjoyed it ♡

As always, you nailed it with the art which I really love! this game is therapeutic :D great concept!

Developer

Ahhh thank you so much!!! ^_^ I am glad you think so ♡

I. LOVE. THIS. ART! I seriously adore it. I just wish I had the option to fullscreen because at around 100 Ivys collected I must have clicked off the screen and the space bar sent me to the bottom of the page and when I scrolled back up the game had restarted. Maybe toggle on the Fullscreen Button checkbox on the Edit Game page? (Unless that breaks your aspect ratio). Also, is there any punishment for not catching the ivy? It didn't seem like there was. Perhaps subtract some health?

Developer (1 edit)

Thank you so much!!! I can try adding the fullscreen option, but I'm afraid the button will be on top of my pause button? I will try to test that. (Edit: It works!) The only punishment for not catching ivy is that the "ending" text is different: you end up saving the kingdom, but leaving a mess, which isn't appreciated. I will think about a better punishment, though. Thank you again for your comment and feedback!!

Ah! I see, I haven't gotten to the end yet. If you end up expanding on this idea, it might be cool to have the ivy fall down somewhat slowly or perhaps at a variable speed so cutting and catching are two separate actions. Anyway, great submission!

Developer

Yeah, I was planning on improving the catching/picking up moment, since it's super plain right now. Thanks for bringing it up!

Very nice and calming game, I would say I could play this for hours, but I have to play all the other jam games haha. Yet again an awesome game with great art. Only downside is that the picking up of ivy was very tedious and very little space for mistake in your basket placement. Nice game! :)

Developer

Thank you very much for your feedback! I honestly couldn't tell if the basket placement was good enough by myself, so I really need the players' feedback on that. I really want to improve the picking up though, so thanks for bringing it up!
