There was a game called something "Quit this Game" that I downloaded and ran, only to find out it had a Trojan in it when I virus scanned.
The game has since been removed, but just a caution to everyone to scan any files you download.
Cheers,

Are you talking about this entry? https://itch.io/jam/minimalistic-jam-2/rate/208922 I played it and it wasn't a virus. I got, however, the standard Windows warning about unknown publishers.
I did not tested it, but since the game blocks closing it some virus scanner might warn you. The unknown publisher warning is normal, no need to worry, just check what you are trying to launch.
I scanned the file with VirusTotal, here are the results (0% danger) if you are interested: https://www.virustotal.com/de/file/987982889e096c4b072c2bf52bb385747f4877d2f1ad0...
I can assure you it's just a self-extracting issue.
Therefore, I provided a new zip only release to avoid that specific problem.
Obviously, we're talking about a false positive, since the sfx exe is trying to extract the files in it contained to a temporary folder in %appdata%.
You can trust my creations, I'm a long time developer with more than 30 games released on this same platform (with quite successful, and itchio front page featured titles like "sleepthrough", "Our Place" and may others).
You can find all my games here: https://approductions.itch.io
Before spouting nonsense, always double check your allegations.
I've never put any virus, trojan, or anything harmful in any game of mines.
And the game was not "removed", it was just resubmitted to include the zip option in the downloads.
A further explanation is available on the game's page and on the download screen.
Thank you. ✌️
With respect, he didn't "spout nonsense". He didn't accuse anyone of anything, only stated his observations based on reports of software he had and that other users should exercise caution with ANY files. It's likely that he hasn't encountered the problem before. Those of us who have know how to solve it/ignore it.
