This is a really cool prototype! It has a lot of potential. The overworld exploration was especially cool. The battle system was really unique, like an arcade shooter but with some added interest from the parry and other stats.
I think the "S" bar for each enemy was a little counterintuitive, as I expected them to have "health" that decreased with the shots. Or if that's what was happening, then the colors may have been inverted to what I expected (e.g., yellow seems full, and the darker color seemed empty).
You just began to explore different kinds of enemies, so I can see you doing a lot more. With some sound effects and other polish, you've got a solid prototype!
(Edit: Oh, for some reason, your game was taking 25% of my CPU XD no biggie, but I thought I'd mention it. That said, I haven't seen a lot of other 3D entries in this jam, or Unreal entries, for that matter, so I don't have good points of reference)
For some reason the game kept booting up my SteamVR, might wanna fix that. Otherwise great little game, wish I had a little bit more direction though. (Seriously though love the art, atmosphere and the gameplay!)
Oh, I really dig the battle system. This could go really far like they did with Undertale. Also, thanks for not killing my sorry ass when dropping to 0 hearts haha.
I liked the stats readout at the end of each fight for this game, that's something that could definitely be taken somewhere. I did find myself just holding the dodge key during fights to dodge every hit, maybe a cooldown on that could be useful. I also stayed on zero health for the whole game, so a death screen could be useful. All in all though, a good "proof of concept" that should definitely be built upon!
The first Unreal entry I've come across, very cool! Super creative and fun use of the assets. I did not understand the fighting system, I thought I need to dodge using WASD or something.. :D
Very bright and fun and colourful - I like it!
