Movie scene description (plus video link if possible!)
The game is inspired by Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's stone as well as The Stanley Parable and involves the player escaping Olivander's a seemingly normal wand shop through finding a multitude of power ups and abilities! Even though this is not based on and individual scene we decided to make a game about movies! But maybe about other movies too?!

Jackpot! It was so interesting. The narrator was spot on perfect and there were lot of cool mechanics.
5 outa 5 on everything. Well deserved.
Cheers!
Fantastically snarky narrator and really meta gameplay! Really ambitious gameplay with jumping between multiple movies while juggling a metroidvania and dialogue. One minor quibble would be the narrator talking over himself sometimes. I wonder if I could jump on those floating objects near the end. One of my favorites from this game jam.
I gotta admit I was thrown off the whole time what movie this was supposed to be for (I downloaded these games in bulk haha) but I really enjoyed what it was! I had a little trouble with the platforming but that could just be me being awful. It was surprisingly long and consistently entertaining for a game jam game, and I really liked how the magic worked and wished there was a bit more to do with it. Overall one of my favorite games from the gamejam, so thanks a lot for it and please keep developing stuff. Cheerrrrssss 🍻
Hey there thanks for playing! (and hopefully leaving a rating) The movie(s) were supposed to be a transition from Harry Potter to Star Wars to Pirate of the Caribbean as the Narrator tries to get the Player to a proper film. Figuring out that you can't when a player is the protagonist since the only difference between movies and games is choice. (Or at least that is what we were going for)
Hey guys,
Really good job bringing this project together in a short amount of time. I was running the game on a lower end computer and was having some lag issues. But bar that, I was having a good time being a wizard :) the voice acting was superb and the assets were really well done. Maybe add some more cues to solve puzzles, as I and other seem to have gotten lost.
Good game and keep up the good work, can't wait to see what you do in the future.
Haha so some players did do the sequence breaks ;) My time was not wasted after all! We had a line of dialogue with the narrator acknowledging this planned other than the one after collecting the double-jump, but I'm glad you enjoyed it would LOVE to see that video BTW (especially to see which of the four sequence-breaking paths you took) ANY feedback helps! (also ratings help so if you can it would be great to hear from you in that way on our movie game jam page if you have not already: https://itch.io/jam/moviegamejam/rate/220990)
Very funny, wish the narrator acknowledged if you listen to his whole speech though. Your narrator, sounds very similar to Jessie Cox.
Oh something that I kinda wished you guys had done, was if you tried to open the front door the narrator would say something, or atleast something of some flavor would have been done for that, as my first thought was "Nice speech narrator dude, I'm leaving now" and I went to the front door, and nothing, a little disappointing. but acceptable considering the constraints of a game jam.
What a fantastic film based with a story driven project. Really well put together and I loved that narration. Graphically, there are no complaints from me but if it helps, I've since played "Between Worlds" a couple of times.
I've just chuckled at myself as I remembered that when I entered the star wars area and narrator goes "Over In the Distance is a small village" and I said "I'm not going that way, I'll go were I like " lol
I really enjoyed the discovery elements and overall had a good time playing this. Well done!
But... It's a huge download... A little optimization would certainly help :)
Tried out your game - I don't think it is that connected to HP, but it has very interesting gameplay which I did enjoy. I also liked the art choice and narrator was a perfect detail making the whole adventure much more enjoyable!
I liked it. I didn't manage to go through, in the desert area I got confused what I'm supposed to do (but then I blame my low skill in puzzles), but generally, I really enjoyed it.
