Summary
(This overview should serve as orientation, it will not be everything in the jam version)

You are playing a magician in training.
Your goal is to become a real magician of the seasons.
After basic training, you move to an orphaned place where the seasons no longer work.
The goal? Awaken the country from its winter sleep and bring the seasons back to life.

For this you have to use appropriate spells.
You need the right raw materials for these.
Some of these have to be grown yourself and some have to be found in nature.

As your work progresses, life returns to the country.
Animals and plants appear and people settle (maybe also mythical creatures).

For the jam

Overall, this idea is the basis for a full game.
I am planning a simple start for the Jam, which will then develop into the game described above in further steps.
The jam version will only be about changing from winter to spring to test the core mechanics.

  • Growing own plants
  • There should be raw materials in the world.
  • First animals (regardless of the progress of magic)
  • A small collection of spells that use the appropriate resources
  • When enough spring magic has been collected, the world should change from winter to spring. I would very much like to implement this point. This would make the jam version feel like a small game with a real goal.

The world will be rather small, just big enough to test all the mechanics of the jam version.

What am I using?

I work with the RPGMaker MV and therefore with JavaScript.
The maker already comes with a good resource collection, so I don't have to start from scratch here. I will use GIMP to revise the graphics.

This sounds like a cool idea! Do you have any details on the magic mechanics yet?
