in the spirit of the jam, I wanted to keep track of what I’m working on in the hopes that writing everything down will allow me to better address problems.

 Without further ado—

Art Assets (missing)

  • Background
  • Card trick animation
  • Back of cards/ card deck

Other assets

  • Font
  • Nature sounds
  • Music (?)

My day one goal is to get the basic framework of the game programmed.

Looking forward to reading other logs and seeing everyone’s game!!

That sounds like a really manageable goal! Wishing you the best of luck!

Good luck!

thanks for the support! I was able to achieve my day one goal and I have a working prototype of the game.

Day Two

Art Assets (missing):

  • Background
  • Card tricks animation
  • Card table
  • Dialogue box frame

Other Assets:

  • Dialogue
  • Soundscape/music

current issue — trying to display nextCard after player has guessed. Needs own object probably.

Day two goal: get the dialogue written, learn how to make text boxes.

Sounds like good progress--I am a little curious what the premise of your game is. Maybe you can even share a quick gif or vid of the prototype? Keep it up!

Per request: so the basic premise of the game is that you’ve challenged forbo the card wizard to a simple card game. It’s basically a microgame.

Day three

Didn’t achieve my day two goal of getting all the dialogue working but I did make the text box and do some research on how to code the dialogue lines. Essentially my day two asset lists still apply.
goal: dialogue, background art

Brilliant. So happy to read your check-ins. Hoping it inspires me to get going with my plan for 1 game a month 😁.. so far 0 games a month.

Good luck, looking forward to tomorrow's entry.

This is a very interesting idea!

Heres a card trick animation I found, maybe it can work:
