This took me by surprise! It's very authentic and fascinating. It feels like you're not just playing a game, but communicating with the past, a little bit. I really enjoyed it and found it quite arresting. The prose was great, too! I would love to play another one of these games with a bit more narrative.
The entire concept of this game is intrinsically hilarious. You wisely made it short and sweet so it didn't overstay its welcome, with a cute ending too.
EDIT: I also LOVE that you reward players familiar with parser-based games by tailoring responses for inventory checks, etc. I'm now kicking myself for not rating this game higher, just for that detail.
A quick and novel little text adventure that tackles a famous game concept from an unusual angle, and an angle that I think works pretty well! I really like how the ending text was implemented, with that final, climatic word being what gets typed no matter what keys you press. It threw me for a loop and was a great way to grab my attention. My only real gripe is that I feel a couple of the pieces of writing could have been more descriptive to help convey a more vivid image. Nonetheless, nice job overall!

I have added a direct link to a browser-playable (approximate) version of the game if you are uninterested in computer history and emulators. https://nippur72.github.io/vic20-emu/?load=http://www.sleepingelephant.com/danie...
