  • I really loved the concept, the Christmas-time nostalgia and how the art style complemented it, and how it approached the theme of the jam. I also appreciated the controller support, and the implementation of an endless mode with randomly generated levels! Though it does generate incompletable levels, that's still an impressive level of detail for a game made in one week. It was very fun to play, though the more action-based platformer design of the levels being broken up with cutscenes lowered the engagement for me a bit -- perhaps if there were multiple levels you could choose to complete in your preferred order, the driving parts could function as navigating through an overmap. The game had so much character too, and I really enjoyed that. Very good game!

Really love this game's overall feel and the intermissions talking to the operator between levels were such a nice touch. The gameplay itself was solid as well, the levels felt fair and I got used to the controls it was really enjoyable to work through the levels. Great job!

Thank you for playing :)

Yay another pico-8 game! Really like the graphics especially the snow effect. Very impressive considering you finished it in 5 days. Appreciate the detailed dev log too.

One suggestion I'd have is to make more of a distinction between the good and bad things to help the player... for example I think the bad rocks are grey but the good platforms you jump on are also grey. I know it's difficult with the limited palette though!

Thanks for the game.

I'll keep this in mind when designing onwards :) I've really tried to nail down the aesthetic so I avoided 'colors out of scene' but you may be right. I'd say it's hard to judge when I'm testing what I made because for me I know exactly what I can and can't jump on :D

Fun game! The art style is cute, the story is cozy and works out great as intermissions between levels. Wish there was some finishing screen after last level (car arriving at the house?).

The only gripe I have is inconsistent controls. You interact with car by pressing C, but interact with poles by pressing Up+C. You jump up by pressing X, but jump down with Down+C? It may have been more intuitive if it were C for any interaction, and Down+X for ledge dropping.

Thanks for playing! I do have to agree about the inconsistent controls. My main thinking was that if someone plays on a gamepad and accidentally presses down along with a direction when they jump then they might fall.

The good solution probably should have been a short buffer for down and X so it's more intuitive and can't be pressed on accident
