  • A neat little experience with a novel look at the connections theme. I liked the idea of having to connect enemies to each other before destroying them. It is interesting, and has a lot of potential for expansions/other mechanics. The game runs pretty smoothly, but isn't very intuitive. I like to try and figure out a game before I read the instructions, and I couldn't figure out what I was doing wrong until I read the itch page, and then everything clicked together! It was a lot more fun once I realized the mechanic. My only feedback for this would be having a button to begin, and a button to restart if you win/lose would be the minimum needed to call the game really playable. Otherwise, it runs smoothly. Art-wise, it's clearly bare-bones and not the focus. But if there was one small thing that would make the game feel more dynamic, a background with some differentiation would help orient for movement. The blank screen doesn't tell me whether I'm at an edge of the game, or if it goes on forever. Other than that, obviously making the sprites actually animated would be a later, less fundamental addition. The game is actually pretty fun to play still. I liked getting through it. I could see the connections mechanic expanded in future attempts - things like connecting certain enemies actually gives them abilities or you can't go through your own connections, or some creatures need to be connected to more of their own kind etc. There's a lot of potential here, which makes it more interesting as a concept. I hope you learned a lot during the jam, and it would be cool if you were able to make more stuff inspired by all this. Good job!

I like the concept of having to connect the enemies before damaging them. Neat idea :)

Is the gun rotation because you need IK with your skeleton/rigging? I'm pretty new to all that myself, but I had similar issue when I was setting up my joints and IK. Could use some time in between the start of the game and the enemies being on top of you, I died before I knew what was going on the first time :D
