  • This was surprisingly fun. Initially I was just going to play for a little while and stop, but once I managed to lasso one cow, I just had to get the others, and I spent the next few minutes chasing them to the (literal) ends of the earth. This reminds me of one of those carnival mini-games where you can win small prizes for surprisingly tricky games. I think that's why it was appealing. I can see how wrangling and making connections are related, so it stuck with the theme. The game is pretty smooth. Because of the cow's chase mechanics, I was able to herd them away from the end of the world as I approached it (or thought I was). Obviously, there isn't any animation, so I can speak much for the visuals, but clearly it wasn't your focus, so it doesn't matter. You still managed to make a game in the end. What could have really brought it together, though would be some fun, silly music. The only gameplay concern is that the rope physics was a little hard to figure out. Because of the large player character blocking the cow in front of you, it was hard to gauge distance. But some of those tricky elements is what makes the game feel like a carnival game. Some versions I could imagine is holding down to see how hard you throw, with a ground target to help aim, or at least a clear aiming dot in front of you to see where exactly the lasso was coming from. In the browser version, my mouse cursor tended to drift as I turned so it wasn't centred after moving for a while. I'm surprised at how determined I was to finish the game. It just goes to show you that even the simplest of concepts can be appealing. Keep making minigames like this and you might have yourself a whole larger game to play around with!

Hey nice graphics, you put a lot of effort in your renders! Also love what the sky looks like. I did find the game a bit too hard given the millimetric precision required to catch cows,  while I get that you made it the point of the game, I would still look at developing some sort of help for the player (either by accepting lazo throws within X px from the target or by enabling a sorta of timing grid).

Looking forward to further development! ðŸ˜Š

Thanks for playing and commenting! Actually I did not make much effort in rendering, maybe it looks good because of the grass texture and the sky box, both of which I downloaded from Unity asset store. I noticed the sky box somehow had different lighting so the cowboy looks more blue. For the gameplay, you do not need millimetric precision to capture the cow. Actually I already made the lasso much larger compared to the initial version. But you are making a very good point that such gameplay needs simplification, that’s also what I want to do in the future versions! Thanks again for such detailed comment and suggestion!
