Hey I really enjoyed your game!
I think the greatest strength of your game is it's FUN! I really like the head-to-head multiplayer, and the fast action. But what makes it even more fun are the different types of guns you spawn. This is really good for a 72 hour jam!
Really liked the game. But I like these kind of games. Hated the music, though, but that's just me :p
Technically, it's really good. Controls are smooth, and didn't find any obvious bug. If you were to work on this game I'd say that it's pretty hard to know what you are going to pick as a gun augment (put I'm being picky).
Definitely in our top-rated game, according to this GameJam scale.
Thanks for the feedback! The music was made by Osmium (link to his Soundcloud in the game's description), and the two tracks i decided to use for the game were two WIP tracks, which i thought would fit the game, but of course they are still unfinished tracks. I suggest you check his Soundcloud for his more finished tracks.
Fun game! I included it in my Open Jam compilation video series, if you’d like to take a look. :)
Thanks for playing my game! Really good video too!
Didn't have anyone to play this with, so that obviously meant that I couldn't fully experience the game. What I can say though is that it felt solid and the idea of having to choose between shooting the opponent to get an upper hand vs. just shooting the walls for score is interesting. Looks and sounds good too.
Edit.: And as they say, "The Theme is strong in this one".
Can you provide a Web build or a Linux build? A windows build is totally fine but if you were to win, we can only feature the game at All Things Open if it has a Web or Linux build. Thanks for all your hard work!
Unfortunely i can't make a web build or a Linux build because the game was made with game maker and to make Linux builds you need to pay for a module, which i don't have. I'm okay with the game not being featured in All Things Open.
I have the required module, but never got a change to try it until now; here's a Linux version of your game: https://www.dropbox.com/s/gnfi7tpmqy2wt58/Paint_Splashers.zip?dl=0. Feel free to put it up on itch or wherever you want. It was a suprisingly painless process overall.
Tested working on both Ubuntu 16.06 LTS and Arch Linux. On Arch I needed to use "LD_PRELOAD=libcurl.so.3 ./Paint_Splashers" as the launch command. Gamepad seemed to work okay as well (used a DualShock 3 controller via xboxdrv xbox360 emulation). Don't know what dependencies it might have, but I didn't need to install anything extra on Ubuntu (apart from stuff needed to compile the project) or on my daily driver Arch installation (which, to be fair has the steam-native-runtime metapackage that provides a lot of libraries usually required by games) to run it.
I made a Linux version for the game, if you want to check it out (would be nice to know it works on other systems too). Now there's nothing stopping this game from being featured at All Things Open x)!
