The references to specific units and gear makes this feel like a great dramatization of one, maybe two turns in a battle report! I also like how the Mural adds some texture and sense of history with just a couple lines. It's never just a battlefield - it's someone's home, too.
I love it, I love the way you describe how he focus in the fight, a harrowing moment just summarized in a dull pain, the touching moment in the mural ending with the mags was brilliant, he was jerked back to the reality in that instant, it was excellent

This was utterly enthralling; I'd happily read a whole book about 5th Platoon. Well done!
I especially like the scene with the mural. It gives a brief glimpse of what life used to be, could have been, before snapping us back to the harsh reality our characters live in.
