Description
Commodore 64 SID-style chiptunes for a La-Mulana like 2D action-adventure-platformer game that has emphasis on riddles, puzzles and mysteries.
I have been working on this game for a long time but it's still only in a pre-planning stage. My aim is to make the full game one day and create a full soundtrack for it too.
Dwellers of Dust is a track that I've had unfinished for a couple of years, but I decided a long time ago to use it in this specific game. It is the theme song for one of the game's many areas, appearing in later half of the game, deep inside the slowly unfolding mystery. Parts of the song were composed before this jam, but the rest of it were made and finished during the jam.
Leviathan at the Edge of Space is one of the game's boss themes. It starts more like an area track, but soon changes into full-blown action blaster with many fast paced heavy metal style riffs. This track was 100% created from the beginning to the end during this jam.
The tracks were made with Jeskola Buzz (the old version), using the 38911 Bytes VST.
Message from the artist:
Both tracks were made for people who are into certain kinds of melancholic and dark chord progressions, melodies and riffs, that's to say: mostly for myself. If our souls touch each other in any way out there in the great infinity, I'm sure you'll like what you hear. If not, I hope you'll still get some enjoyment out of these tracks.
Theme
How does it fit the theme?
It doesn't necessarily fit directly in a way people would first think about the theme, but in the game space, time and reality mixes in ways that makes panspermia be more than meets the eye.
What comes to the compositions, Leviathan at the Edge of Space sounds like a battle against a creature aiming to break the edges of space, whatever space and creature even might mean, and Dwellers of Dust has a grand sense of melancholy that comes from the vastness of space out there, around us and within us.
