I couldn't get the Mac version to work. What am I supposed to open it with? It defaults to TextEdit, which obviously doesn't work.

Hey!

I'm not averse to a bit of mainframe fun, having done my fair share of JCL bug fixing back in the day, BUT i'm really struggling to get this working.

I'm running Windows 10, X230 Lenovo laptop, and followed the links but it was a tad bit confusing to be honest.  First I downloaded from soureforge and it was three files but no EXE, so I browsed around and eventually found a 64bit Windows EXE installer, I downloaded and installed and all appeared fine, I dragged the game file to regina.exe and also rexx.exe and it just said i'd got the wrong version; I have to be honest I did give up after that.

I would like to play this, any chance you could streamline the Description section a bit for the non-techies and just link Mac and Win 10, 11 and 12 etc?  Ideally an executable but happy to install something.

I'm following the reviews we're getting and I get the sense that you're missing out on a lot of players who aren't necessarily techies, and i'd hate for you to lose votes because of that.

Thanks!

Adam

That is very thoughtful of you to alert me to the game's reception and much appreciated.  Programming the game in REXX was an intentional design choice as a sort of nod to early text adventures.  This response from the intfiction.org forum encouraged us to port the entire game from REXX to C++!  The definitive version is a single executable that any Windows machine can run.  Now it is much easier to access and play.  Feel free to give it a go!

I was able to download a REXX interpreter for Win11 to play Moon-House Technician. I found it ot be an enjoyable quest reminiscent of a 16 bit retro game. It is based on a menu system where an 11 year old ends up exploring the Moon. As the into suggests, it is best to leave the interpreter running and come back to the game as you find time.

I was also able to upload the game source to sdf.org and play the game on their system. This might be useful for players that don’t want to download and install an interpreter on their local machine.

After a while the game became mechanical. I still like the game and figured out a way to get to the end after being returned to the Earth a couple of times.

The retro based game is creative and a good play.
