Super intruiged by this game, and looks like one of the cooler ones of the jam, unfortunately the UX is really holding it back as I am struggling to get plants to grow and have no idea why. I really hope you work a bit more on the UI to get the game to be a bit more intuitive!

I like how the bees flying in a hexagon pattern is 100% scientifically accurate 💯!
I tried your game on the first day after submission and I failed horribly. I thought I'd try it again while looking at your video (I did not even notice that there was a scroll bar for stem settings 😂) and that helped a lot.
I made the same mistake you did but could not let go of my creation so I guess it's a Jack & The Beanstalk situation we've got going on here.
Apart from all the configuration, training & help things that you already know is necessary for a tricky game like this the one thing that threw me off quite a lot was that I did not know whether my tool selection in the garden worked or not so having a highlight of the selected tool would do wonders.
Well done on taking on such an amibitous project (and for the most part getting it done)!
Creative idea, was interesting to play!
Unfortunately I'm not a great gardener, I only managed to get a super basic shrub(?) going :)
what could be improved:
- perhaps instead of the help section, that info could be presented to the player "just in time" i.e. inside the creation menus, or popping up once you enter the garden, etc
- found it tricky to get started, took me a while to realise i could scroll down to see more settings for the plant, and that i had to set the dimensions > 0 in order to see anything
- bees look a little janky, hilarious
what I liked:
- bees look a little janky, hilarious
- the concept. with some chilled music and maybe a few quality of life improvements, I could see myself spending a few hours tending a garden :)
- comprehensive help section
- does look like it could be fun once you get the hang of it
suggestions:
- some indication of which tool you're currently holding
- don't make the default dimensions zero, initialise them to something else, so that even if you don't set anything, it will result in a visible plant
- random plant generator? Like 1 starter plant to show you the ropes?
Thank you so much for trying it out and for such comprehensive feedback! I 100% agree, I've already made the adjustments to clamp the plant size because a lot of people have been accidentally making scale 0 plants. They also now default to a reasonable size.
A random plant generator is a great idea too, will definitely look into that :) Ill also look into changing the cursor icon to the current tool when gardening, It makes perfect sense I just didnt think of it.
The help section showing up during gameplay might be a little trickier, I do agree that it would be the best experience, Im just a bit inexperienced when it comes to in game tutorialization so it may take me a bit of time to figure that out. Thanks again for trying it out!
Hi there! You should be able to unpack the .rar with Winrar or I think there may be an option when right clicking to extract the files. Hope that helps! Ill try update with a .zip file tonight too, you may have to check the game page rather than the Jam submission (you can click the view game page link next to the game name at the top)
