Summarise your game!
Artifact’s Escape is a puzzle adventure game where you take on the role of an ancient artifact attempting to escape it’s crypt.

Please explain how your game fits the theme:
You are an ancient, powerful artifact capable of unleashing world-ending destruction. Locked away in a crypt for thousands of years, you are now determined to escape. As this artifact, you possess a range of abilities to aid in your quest for freedom. Along the way, you will encounter traps, blocked paths, and other obstacles that require clever solutions. You may also face NPCs, such as treasure hunters (if time permits), and must decide how to outmaneuver or use them to your advantage during your escape.

Is there anything you'd like the judges to pay particular attention to?
Single person effort! Looking to make a fun puzzle and classic arcade feeling game.

This demo has around 5 levels and a handful of special mechanics implemented (depending how far I get before end of Jam). The intention, if made into a full game, would be to have at least 100 levels with many more types of interactable elements as part of the puzzle solving.

The art was really cool,  wish there was some form of ambience music in the background. It also reminds me of Chip's Challenge. The puzzles were good, I liked how the artifact had a rolling animation and there was a sound effect for when the doors opened once all the keys were collected.

Thanks for the kind words and feedback! I am definitely going to be continuing work on this one, so check back in the future!

Pretty cool, I like the the retro style and would play it all the way through but going through the same puzzles every time I screw something up or die can get repetitive very quickly. Maybe a restart level button might help?

Thank you so much for the feedback!! Great call - I have more work to do around the death/time out screens, but I am going to switch it to restart the room instead of the game.

Latest version went live last night. There are 5 levels with unique ways to pass each one. Can you solve the puzzles in time and get to the exit?

Sound is a little loud, but the game and GDD look solid.

Having a playable puzzle game is a huge undertaking for a game jam.

Thanks for the feedback!! I will adjust the levels a bit for the audio. Hoping to add some more gameplay mechanics too before the end, but we will see.

Heya! If the player moves a gray block into an any fire the game crashes, which isn't good.

Regarding other feedback, for now there isn't much content to analyze, but the mechanics look interesting for now and the interactions between the different objects will be interesting to use. For example, it'd be interesting to see what would happen if a flame interacted with the lava pillar/river.

Good luck with the rest of the time for the jam!

Crazy, I hadn't seen that happen. The gray block is supposed to block the flame so you can pass. I will check it out and see what is up.

Thanks for checking it out too! My hope is to create more puzzle elements as I go here, but we will see how many things get implemented with the time remaining. My goal overall is an puzzle-y, arcade-y feeling game.

EDIT: Bug has been squashed and new version is uploaded.
