  • The game is interesting, i find the mechanic engaging enough to play for a bit. However it was too difficult and i couldn't afford to sink the time needed to really get deep into the game. As such im not sure where the theme comes in. I also spend an unreasonable amount of time collecting many orbs from the ice waterfall thinking i could use them more then once. some sound effects for jumping and casting would be cool, as well as maybe just bind the push and pull to left and right mouse, rather then holding right down and selecting one. it made it difficult to quickly make ice and then jump off and pull the ice with me.

Did you include your Game Design Document in your downloadable files?
Yes

Tell us about your game!
Eye Between is a platformer in which you are a wizard influencing the world with elemental magic.

The gameplay can at times be almost puzzle like where you need to figure out how to use the elements around you to move level pieces and progress further. The story is only just beginning in this prototype, and focuses on an Abyss that wants to consume elements from the world.

Controls:

Movement - WSAD, Arrows
Interact - LMB
Magic menu - RMB
Pause - ESC, tab

In relation to controls there is one emergent mechanic, air jump that happens when player character is in air and is using air magic with a platform underneath. It is required to progress at some point and can be quite confusing to do, there is some more info on it in the GDD.

Did you remember to include your Game Design Document?
I'd say so

Is your game set to Public so we can see it?
Yes

Charming little game. Great mechanic. I know menus and UI for this kind of thing aren't easy, having recent experience with my own submission!

I notice sometimes text pops up but if you happen to be moving, it's tricky to see it before it flashes off again... might need a way to "re-summon" notices if you miss 'em?

I'm not terribly good at platformers, and I didn't make it past the initial stages but still, well done on your submission!

Thanks for checking it out!

Yup UIs are hard, and I went through way too many iterations of how to do it correctly which took me way too much time :d I will definitely check out how you dealt with UI in your submission.

In terms of dialogues, there's only 1 dialogue that can disappear, but it's not really relevant to teaching the player much, it's more fluff for possible world building. Apart from that dialogues will disappear when you walk away from NPCs but if you approach them again and press LMB, you can bring them back up again so nothing should be missed.

Once again, thanks for playing!

I liked the music. Cool stuff! Interesting system. I wasn't quite sure how to get past the rock wall. though. I tried both ice and fire, so not sure if I missed an element or something. Mechanic seems like it could be interesting.

Thanks for playing! To get through the wall you need the air element that should be just above the spot where you encounter the wall. I do see how it could be a bit too hard to notice. Especially because it only spawns after you finish the tutorial with NPCs in the lower level.

This is a prety fun game mechanic. I think I might have gotten stuck a but earlier than the game intended, but enjoyed what I played. Congrats on making a cool game mechanic!
