  • Had some issues with the tutorial. There's a giant yellow line, how could I?! Well, I wanted to read the books first. Then I saw the flask table. And well, I'm dumb. But, I think it's indicative of how the average player would view this game. To correct this, keep the tutorial guy humming and hawing at the area you should be at, *gently* reminding the player of what they should be doing. This game belongs on VR, akin to Job Simulator. I was immediately drawn in. You *have* something here. Keep going!

Yes

Yes

Tell us about your game!
Al’s Alchemy Alcove is a fast-paced attention-management game where you fulfill simultaneous potion-making orders by operating steampunk-inspired potion-making apparatuses while fending off mischievous shadow sprites that sabotage your progress.

Orders will appear with increasing frequency (and shorter timers) as you progress. You will be guided through the first potion, but the rest you'll have to review the alchemist notebooks (E or G to open them) to learn recipes and interpret the alchemical symbols so you can complete the orders in time.

Use your lantern to see the shadows of the otherwise invisible shadowsprites, as they will sabotage your machines and potentially ruin your potions!

Keyboard and Mouse
WASD for movement
C for crouch (toggle)
Shift for sprint

E - grab and drop potion/ingredient/lightning rod
G - Activate machine part
Left/Right click - Turn wheel

P - Mute Narrator (for those who no longer want to hear him)
M - turn off Thunder/Lightning (for those with phobia, light/sound sensitivity)

For those who need further assistance, an English version of the Potion List and their required ingredients and steps to complete them is listed in the GDD.

Extra Notes
I learned to code years ago, but only got to make one short game I made to pay for a VR headset. Having kids shortly after and other life activities made me step away -- it was a lot of fun coming back to see what I could do! Thanks for hosting.

Hey this was pretty good! I didn't get far though, somehow I messed up my potion and didn't know what I needed to remake it. I'll try it again later, but I wanted to leave a comment! I think this is the most similar game to our entry that I've seen, but they are not similar at all in so many ways anyway.

One negative thing I would mention is that I would expect to be able to pick up objects in the middle of the screen, but I found that leaning sideways with the little arm worked way better... it felt as if I the character had t-rex hands.

Agreed! I used a bit in front of the hand as the grabbing point but doing it over again I'd put it closer to the center. Biggest issue I found with that is that it could result in a lot of overlapping items and I didn't have time to redesign. Thanks for trying and I'll try yours out soon! :)

A speedrun of the 15 completed potions goal. It's not easy!
