  • GDD is well presented, and clearly documents your intentions for the game. However, where is the "theme interpretation" (or similar) section? I was looking for it but can't see it in your table of contents. Maybe it's the "primary mechanics" section, where you have partially covered how the shadow/alchemy theme fits :) The gameplay is fun and I can see a lot of potential here. It's a bit buggy at the moment, but some of that comes down to it being a game jam and you may have run out of time. Well done on an excellent submission. One of my favourites :)

Welcome to the Moon Garden. A land infused with magic where some of the greatest alchemical and spell components can be harvested. You are a druid of the Moon Garden, you are charged with protecting the garden from vicious monsters and upkeep of the plants. It has been very quiet and peaceful for decades, which is how you prefer it. However, there has been an increase of trespassers making a mess of the Garden.

It's up to you to shoo away the miscreants!

While you are armed, your blade was bestowed by your Druidic order. A weapon intended for peace, you'll need to balance between light and dark to do any harm.

Use various plants and minerals to craft powerful spells to protect yourself and aid the garden.

Extra Notes
Unfortunately, my build on the itch page is not working. Using Game Maker, the HTML version has a game crashing issue with collisions. I wasn't able to fix this in time. Linked on the itch page is a GX.games page. The game seems stable on Windows download and on GX.

I am sorry for the inconvenience and understand if you skip this entry.
Thanks for the opportunity to learn a lot.

I tried both, unfortunate on your bug :(. The playable version is so good though! The graphics are really high quality on their own, let alone for a game jam game! The movement system is incredibly snappy and smooth which is the most important factor for these types of games in my opinion. I struggled in combat against the little goblin at first until I realized how short my attack cooldown was.  The goblin's attack seemed super fast until I realized the range on my little wave attack meant it could never really approach me, especially if I camped on a wall. I also couldn't figure out how to access spells from getting those flowers, but I did see the tutorial text pop up for it. Ctrl and Q didn't have any functionality for me.  This game is really awesome-- I hope the judges give it a shot-- and that you keep working on it, I think it'd be worth it.

p.s. I think audio would go a super long way for this game

Thank you for your input! I just today was able to figure out my bug issues, but the entries are locked until after the jam. It's too bad I didn't find it in time, but it was fun trying to solve that puzzle, I can post the repaired files once it unlocks.

The Ctrl and Q buttons not working is a first heard. Which means you never got to finish the level. I'm sorry to hear about that. I'll have to take another look once the jam is over.

As for audio, I have never touched it before. Time to crack open the tutorial videos!!
