  • At first, I was really confused about what was happening in the game. I wasn't sure what the lights did until I read the GDD. The concept is really interesting and I can see this becoming a compelling puzzle game. The idea of mixing colors to add different affects to help the player get through the level is clever and would love to see what combinations you can come up with. It was difficult to play only for the reason of not knowing what to do or why things were happening. Remember to keep the player in mind and have *some* tutorials to help guide the player. Overall, once I figured things out, this was a really fun and interesting game! Good job!

This is a cozy puzzle top down platformer.
The player controls one of 4 sprites at a time, 3 faries and a witch.
The aim is to get the witch to the door. (The door is revealed by proximity of either the witch or fairies).
The faries emit different coloured lights, which have different effects. (green = healing, red = damage and blue = aging the player (changes sprite, reduced movement speed etc))
The lights can be overlapped to create new effects such as , shrinking the player, changing them into a cat and making them ghostly (i.e. able to pass through some objects)

I have managed to code all the different states, however I ran out of time to add things like crates that could be passed through, so in the current prototype the only obstacles are the 'narrow gap' which requires the shrunk player and the red damage light.

If i had more time, besides implementing all the 'interactables' and polishing, I'd add a story where the witch took the light crystal from the temple which triggered the faries and locked the witch in, hence why she is trying to escape. I would also implement a 'warden' of the temple who would chase the player (as I want the game to be fairly chill, I would only have it move when the player moves, so the player has time to think!)

Extra Notes
This is my first game jam, I had never used Godot until this started so I've learnt a lot!!! Thank you for the opportunity

Good work! I like the concept of mixing colors for different effects! Very creative take on the theme. The art is also very cute and well done! It would be nice to have a clearer indication of which color you're standing in, but I enjoyed the game nonetheless! Overall great job!

Thank you so much! <3
I agree clearer 'light zone' demarcation is needed, I think the lights I used had too soft of an edge, making the colours blend together a bit too much when mixed, I appreciate your input!

I like the idea of combining different effects through placement of the faries, allowing for strategic positioning in accordingly created puzzle maps. The effects of the lights could be more clear for the player in terms of intuitivity. I also liked the "aged" graphics style. Would love to see this project continued a bit further!

Thank you so much! Interesting point about how intuitive the system is (I agree at the moment it isn't as intuitive as I'd like, deffo something to work on!) Also thank you for commenting, it means a lot! <3
