  • I really enjoyed playing your game; I do like auto battlers! However, I'm not entirely sure that the animal husbandry mechanic and "shadowy" black hole satisfy the jam themes. Really good effort on the gameplay though, and the aesthetic is nice and clean.

Tell us about your game!
In Pal Lab you collect, breed, manipulate pets, and genetically engineer your way to the top of the world.

Inspired by Noita wand mechanics, both your and enemy pets have traits - active and modifier spells that are used in a sequence during combat.

Your goal is to obtain the best possible pets using a combination of crafting (feeding pets different treats that modify their traits) and capturing enemy pets for use in crafting.

You can sacrifice both pets and treats into the shadow realm to obtain more valuable treats.

The game includes a tutorial which teaches you all the mechanics & controls, so GLHF!

(In addition the controls can be found on the Itch page)

Very nice game, well polished and fun overall. As others have said, it was hard for me to recognize the thematic elements, and it's very hard with the limited control you have over your pets. Outside of that though, v fun. Nice sounds, I love the art style! Thank you for submitting!

neat idea and very well executed!

I did find it a bit difficult, as making good traits seems important but you have limited control over them and understanding them and how they intreact is not super easy, maybe it would help if during combat you could see which trait they are currently using to get a better idea on whats going on?
Id also love if you had some control over the speed up fights, like slowing them down or speeding them up

Holy man! This game is totally pollished!
Very very well execution. Although I didn't see any connection to the theme this game can easily be full blown mobile game release!
Really good job!

Thanks! The theme connection was combining pets & combining foods to craft new ones in terms of "alchemy," and the sacrificial hole where you banish pets into the shadow realm in terms of the "shadow" :)
