  • Like the take on PvZ, shadows stopping crops works well. I understood where you were going with it via GDD but getting in and playing made little sense. There was no feedback on button presses. Hitting start or alchemy was slow to transition and accidentally double tapping brought you right back once it did kick in. Planting versus actual fights didn't really make sense. Not really intuitive.

Plants vs Shadows is an auto battler game about farming and growing crops to fight back the shadows trying to claim the land.

controls:
Mouse left click: select
Mouse right click: deselect

Extra Notes
All assets were made during the jam.
Normal mode: Start the game with nothing
God mode: Start the game with 3 matured crops

This game looks really cool, the pixel art is really pretty, the gameplay seems like a nice idea (combo of PvZ and SAP). I just couldn't get it to work. It didn't matter if I Planted my plants, or ate them, I kept dieing on the first boss in normal mode even. Any tips for me? Because I think if I win the first battle, I could snowball and start playing the game, but at the moment I'm just stuck :)

Yeah that my bad, could have done more to balance the game a bit more to make sure the player can win the first 2–3 rounds without any buff. For the uploaded version, I think the god mode (easy mode) is a better option if you want to try out the game.
