Shadow Alchemist is an isometric pixel art game that blends stealth and puzzle-solving. As a novice alchemist, you will unlock the secrets of self-transmutation. Navigate a shadow-filled dungeon using your alchemical powers. Evade enemies, overcome obstacles, and unravel the mysteries of your own transformative abilities to escape your confinement.

Controls are customizible. WASD + 123 and Xbox controller are premapped.

Hi I'm 31 years old automotive engineer from Finland. This is the second game I've started since I began to learn coding and game dev about eight months ago. My brother helped with the map design and also did some sprites and dialogue for this project. Hope you like it!

I'm a sucker for all things isometric and really dug the ambience you managed to inject into this game in so little time.
Really well done, and very clear understanding of what spell does what which is a severe struggle I think for this kind of puzzler.  Oh and the writing was very good as well, a good humor and tone all the way through.  Love the lighting effect on the guards!

Thanks for playing and good to hear you liked it! The monologue was written in a hurry in couple of hours :D. Future versions of the game will offer a lot more depth to the story and better timing when exploring through the dungeon.

Cool project! Figured I'd mention a couple bugs I ran into:
1. You retain the powers you've unlocked on restart
2. Those of us unwilling to heed the wisdom of Carl Jung can move during the fade-in
3. Clone jutsu does not heed walls, and can be used to send your clone out of bounds

  1. Game progress or save game functionality not implemented in the prototype, they are now.
  2. You’re right, movement should be blocked during intro and it’s implemented now :D

So much fun! The art and music drew me in immediately, and I enjoyed exploring and solving the puzzles. The gem/magic aspect is so good. When it ended, I wanted more. Fantastic :)
