  • GDD Very well-made GDD. There are details on all the points, and it was very clear. Gameplay As a Papers, Please and Contraband Police aficionado, I hit the ground running. The gameplay is enjoyable for us bureaucrats. It's very novel that the weapons get to choose their owner. Weapons are cats. I had some trouble with the rankings designation. The classic bronze, silver, and gold are intuitive, but the other ones? Is Emerald better than a Ruby or a Gold? I have no idea. A short ranking list would be good. Same with the social status for the folks not familiar with the European caste system. Art I see the inspiration. It amazes me how a simple design can still have plenty of personality. Well done. Sound design At the time of this rating, there's no BGM or SFX implemented. Even simple SFX like a ding when you get your next customer and the sound of paper shuffling when they toss the documents would go a long way. Last thoughts I am sorry adventurer, you can't handle my strongest weapons. You are only rank Ruby. You could die if you yield this weapon. It's an enchanted triple axe; you need a permit for that. I really enjoyed your take on the Papers, Please formula. Great job.

Yes! Twice

Is your game set to public on itch.io so we can see it?
Yes

Summarise your game!
You become a weapon that is displayed in a shop. Every customer gives you his documents/information, and you compare it to your wishes. You can decide to deny or accept him. Depending on your decision you get awarded points and once a customer takes you with him, you become the next weapon.

Controls:
Drag and Drop with the mouse and Left/Right/Middle mouse click for interacting.

Please explain how your game fits the theme:
You become a weapon that is displayed in a shop and you have to make decisions as the weapon.
"Embodyment" of the weapon => You are the weapon

A fun experience, a great concept and with a little more polish could see myself sinking hours into it!

What I liked

  • Lots of statistics and cross referencing
  • Charming, simplistic visuals
  • Easy to understand gameplay
  • Potential to expand and develop further

What I would change

  • The weapon requirements will sometimes conflict, for example I had an axe that didn't care about gender but also wanted a man!!
  • Sometimes the person wont give you the proper documentation, so you cant check their guild or rank, one weapon asked for emerald or higher, so I started denying anyone without guild documentation
  • Music / SFXs could bring add a lot to the game, especially as its a very simple, repetitive gameplay loop
  • My only other gripe is that there is no easing into the game, you are immediately thrown into having all the documentation to check and a long list of things the weapon wants, although I understand this wouldn't have been the case in the finished game, I'm just being nit picky!

Altogether It was a fun 5 mins!

I like the concept of the game! Scouring through the documents as fast as you can and the setting really makes those parts of the NPCs much more interesting. My one complaint is that the font choice was kind of difficult to read at times, especially when you're trying to find stuff quickly. Is a fun game to play though!

This is a great jam game- a unique premise that you'd only get by fully embracing the jam theme, and turning it into fun/strong game mechanics. Theres some reading to do but its not a negative trait. As a bonus, some of the names are funny :D If I was to give some constructive feedback, I would say that the font could be more readable for long format text like tutorials/explanations, although its okay to sometimes have some fancy fonts in some other places.

i absolutely adore these kinds of games so i had a blast trying out yours! ðŸ˜

it took me a bit of getting used to what document was what since there was no visual guide in the left-side guide but it was pretty smooth sailing afterwards! it was a lot of fun and i can definitely see myself playing this for hours 💙
