  • Hey Splashy! I really really loved the concept of this game. Shifting between different weapons to overcome different obstacles seems really awesome. The execution of the theme is really unique as well. The music, sound effects, and artwork all worked together really well. Overall the visuals and theme of this game were really well polished and put together. I did have some issues with the gameplay, though. I was not able to get past the first 'jump spot' on the 'start' or 'infinite' levels. I was able to on practice, but that's only because there were no fish chasing me. Maybe I was missing something, but It seems I had to use cannon 4-5 times to get out, but the recharge of cannon wouldn't even recharge twice before the fish got me. As for how to balance it better, I think making sure that any obstacles 'can' be completed in x seconds, and use that amount of time to determine the speed of the edge chasing. So if there are two 'obstacles' on your screen, and one takes 5 seconds, and one takes 10, then the edge chase shouldn't be faster than 15 seconds, and then set that as your time you're trying to 'average out' the obstacles timeline on. Your GDD was very informative and filled-out. I was happy to see a development timeline (with Github links!). Development timelines are super helpful to see as a judge. Overall the game was very difficult (impossible?) in it's current state, but the theme, idea, artwork, and sound effects were very polished and fun! Great job!

Have you checked that your GDD is publicly accessible ?
Yes!

Is your game set to public on itch.io so we can see it?
Yes!

Summarise your game!
"Infinite" runner played as a blob that turns into weapons to overcome obstacles. Finite level in "Start" mode gives sense of completion if desired, otherwise infinite mode is available. Generated level is comprised of randomized constructed challenges from each team member.

Please explain how your game fits the theme:
Proteus was being studied by evil fish scientists to be used as a weapon, but instead Proteus used their newfound abilities to escape!

Is there anything you'd like the judges to pay particular attention to?
Platforming feedback would be great in addition to how balancing the pressure of the screen edge chasing the player can be balanced with challenging realtime platforming

Nice game! I used practice mode to get used to the mechanics, once I was familiar with the controls the game felt fluid and fun. I ran away quite a bit until the fish caught up to me

I like the idea of a blob turning different kinds of things, would be cool to have a better teaching bc rn it looks like a level is for someone that already know how to play, anyways, good game :D
