  • This game touches memories I thought I had completely forgotten! I used to be a very acid player of games made by Nitrome, which used to be a website for flash games back in the day. The style and feel of this is very much similar and I live for it. The music, the level design, the art style are very well done! There is a little bit of an issue I noticed with the gun that alters it's pathing if you turn your mouse as it's sliding back, causing the path to be very unpredictable. It also causes you to be able to push yourself off the wall and shimmy your way around. Would like to see more mechanics added down the line, it has a lot of potential! Really well done! I look forward to seeing you again next jam and look forward to seeing where you take this!

Have you checked that your GDD is publicly accessible ?
Yes

Is your game set to public on itch.io so we can see it?
Yes

Summarise your game!
Gunman's escape is a top down puzzle action game. The recoil mechanic propels the player backward with each shot, adding a strategic aspect of movement and positioning. Mange ammo carefully, use it to kill enemies, solve puzzles, and navigate the levels, but be warned. Bullets = Life

Please explain how your game fits the theme:
You were used by scientist and turned into a deadly weapon, but you had enough of it and decided to rebel against them and escape their laboratory.

Is there anything you'd like the judges to pay particular attention to?
We have a handcrafted OST and all the assets were handmade too. There is also a fully working star system.

This is very fun! 24 levels too, I am having a blast playing through all of them! The art style is nice, the level design is great, and it's very polish with good UIs and stuff too!

Only thing I'd say is that the gun feels a bit floaty and misaligned (probably caused by the visual centre of mass is different that the origin), and makes doing precise actions quite difficult, especially the harder sections in the last 7 levels of the game. The hit box seems to be a bit big too.

Anyway, this is a very solid puzzle game and I like every second of it. Well done!

Man that was fun, you did an amazing job here. This is a full fledged game! I think the movement needs some very slight tweaks to feel a bit less floaty? (or its just a git gud situation) but this is one I would definitely come back to!

This was really fun. It's super polished and there are a really crazy number of levels for a jam game. Some of them are pretty tough too which I really enjoyed. It's so satisfying to pull off a perfect level and get that 3 star rating. Great work on this!

Very polished game with a simple and highly-replayable mechanic. Big fan of the sprite and letter-work throughout.

I second the previously given feedback vis a vis reset following death by spikes, but otherwise really enjoyed my time playing this one. Well done to all involved!

Lovely submission! The art & Music are simple but clean and they give a nice arcade-like vibe. The tutorial screens are really well done and easy to understand. I didn’t really appreciate the gun drift, but I just read that it is an intended feature and just requires practice, which I can understand!

My only feedback is that a level doesn’t seem to reset automatically when you die to spikes, might be a bug?

really nice game! Great mechanics. I thought level 5 was pretty hard ( i think it was 5... the one way 2 guys in narrow hallways). I found the spikes pretty hard to avoid, but eventually i learned how the gun has a little bit of inertia for a while until it slows down. Overall tho amazing job!

Wow! 24 Levels?! Normally puzzle games are hard to make for a game jam, because it is hard to come up with so many different interesting ideas. So you have my respect! I really liked that the character slightly decelerates into the aiming direction after each shot, which makes it possible to adjust your position better. On the other hand I sometimes floated into spikes even though I was breaking which was frustrating sometimes. Personally I would have made some enemies drop two bullets to add a little more grace to the game. But all in all really cool concept and fun gameplay!

Level 11 was a doozy! Great overall, so much content. Very satisfying to play and beat tough levels. Death animation is great.

Looking back it would of been nice.. We did add middle mouse button for restart as well. If you have a standard mouse then you can play the game from just the mouse!

very cool game the are and music was super well polished and the puzzles were fun and creative. One thing for godot and I had the same problem. If youre using particles the first time they spawn it lags the game like crazy so you should preload them at the start heres a youtube video.
