  • GDD Great GDD, I appreciate the inspiration and the use of images to explain the mechanics. One mechanic I would like to add is the jumping. I will add more on it later. A timeline with credits on the GDD would be appreciated. menu Simple menu, with a nice BGM loop. It shows well what a player can expect of the game. I found the handwritten text charming. Gameplay The core gameplay loop is fun and well polished. At first I was struggling and was not having a good time; the bullet time felt way too short to line up the shots and plan the recoil direction. That's until I found out you can jump in midair. And then, I discovered that the jump cooldown does not take into consideration the bullet time, so I could jump, use a bit of bullet time, and then jump again to realign myself. I don't think it was intended, but oh boy, the game got so much more fun for me after that. I hope it becomes a bug turned feature. It was hard to put the game down after this. Just one more map and I will stop... Explaining this during the tutorial phase will help a lot with player retention. Art The art style and color palette mix very well. You are a very colorful rifle on a holy quest to eliminate the pesky targets in a series of dark caves. Sound design The BGM hit the mark for me; I could picture it coming from my SNES or even my GBA. Just like in ye olden days, the 8-bit music does enough to keep you engaged. Feedback Solid entry; with the adjustment on the clarity of jumping mechanics, it can turn into a great little experience. While the BGM is repetitive, it is just like they used to be in the games used as inspiration, so I do not think it's a detriment to the experience. Overall, good job, team.

Summarise your game!
Shatter Shot is a platformer shooting game about shooting all the targets with limited ammo and making it to the finish line.

Please explain how your game fits the theme:
You are the weapon is the theme. The player is a rifle :)

I like the slow-motion assist. It does feels nice when the game slows down and the bullet hit the target. But most of the time I miss the target and my experience wasn't always a pleasant much.

This is a difficult game.
I may be bad at games with physics.

However, I did finish the game and it wasn't all bad.

That was fun, and infuriating XD Physics felt really good.
I would suggest on adding some visual feedback for when the jump is available (like an outline maybe?)
The levels where fun, but the difficulty curve is a little steep, i think some easy levels with fewer targets at the start would be really beneficial, also the first level could be divided in 2, one for learning to shoot, and the other to learn how to traverse shooting.
Regardless this are just my dumb opinions, either way the game is solid and really fun, good job!

Thank you for your feedback! I definitely had some concerns about the difficulty and tried to make the first levels feel less punishing but you're absolutely right! Some levels with less targets and smaller areas to start with (maybe more ammo too) would do good to gradually help the player learn. Thanks for trying the game!
