  • It is an interesting and different perspective in spreading viruses type of games it fits theme very well! The art is adorable. I like the pastel clour pallet. The music is really smooth and chill. The idea of balancing how much you should spread a disease to not over do it and to progress on the upper class sounds really fun! There were some bugs that kept reoccurring: At the moment when I would die and would not have a rat with me it spawns a dead rat out of nowhere. In the third scene, I jumped in attempt to avoid the bird, but it only spawned a bunch of dead rat bodies in the air. The reset button R, blacks out the screen but nothing really happens, no matter how much I wait. I would like to be able the game in full screen and to see a menu button to adjust the sounds or return to the beginning would be great. The game has potential, and I would really like to see how you will develop it further!

yes

Summarise your game!
This game is a 2d platformer with an interactive progressing narrative story. Set during the 1300s while the Bubonic Plague was running rampant, you will be playing as the flea carrying the contagion. Infect people, avoid enemies, hitchhike on rats, and learn more about the city of Sommer Stadt as the people try to save themselves from the plague.

Please explain how your game fits the theme:
Our game fits the theme of "you are the weapon" by having the player play as a flea carrying a deadly plague. The more the player interacts with the world, the more the plague will spread.

Is there anything you'd like the judges to pay particular attention to?
This is the very first game we have ever made (2 of us) so we had to learn a lot of it as we went along these past two weeks. So, some of the mechanics may be finicky.

This is really impressive for your first game. And you did it as a team too, which is also impressive. Dividing the work makes it easier, but getting multiple people focused on the same goal adds to the challenge. Despite that you managed to create quite the adventure. All and all, I'm impressed.

There are a couple of bugs (when I die as a flea somehow the mouse is right there dead with me). And also, I noticed you could jump on ledges in the background, but there are no visual cues to indicate that. My first playthrough I thought they were just part of the background. I would recommend outlining those platforms, or adding hue or contrast or something else to make it a little more obvious you can interact with those platforms. I'd love to see this game with a little more polish and bug removals.

This is a cute idea. I like riding the rat around but also had trouble with restart not working.

oh to be a flea

Doesn't seem to be a way to restart when you die? Unless I am missing something. Super cute art, and cool concept!

Yeah our "r" to restart mechanic somehow got broken when it was converted to Html. We're gonna try to figure out how to fix it. Sorry about that!

So, we have been able to fix this, but we can't upload the fixed version until the game jam judging is over
