  • I do wish the weapon was a bit bigger, it felt more like the goblins were the characters then the sword. Even though the sword is the star of the game. Other then that it was very fun to play. Game really lets you think about how you want to do the level giving you options in how to do so! Really liked the native and short story that really gave the game extra life into the swords story. GDD was very good, it really explained and showed the thoughts in developing the game. Some more art and sprites for show would be nice along with the notes to show a more in depth detail in the work. Screenshots can always add some extra insight into your work on the game.

Have you checked that your GDD is publicly accessible ?

Is your game set to public on itch.io so we can see it?
Yes

Summarise your game!
Mechanics:
1. Left click to launch yourself and hurt Knights.
2. Right click to drag Gobu's and Knights to your will
3. Get upgrades per level! roguelike style
4. Knights and Gobus will enter combat when near
5. Gobus wielding you (the sword) will be strengthened
6. Knights wielding you (the sword) will be weakened
7. Knights will try to bring you back into your chest - you will lose if they make it all the way to the left of the screen
8. Gobus are trying to escape, you will progress if you go to the right of the screen
9. If you find yourself dropped on the floor, don't fret! you will be picked up again soon by a friend.... or a foe...
10. Get out of the castle! (and maybe even further...?)

Story:
Humans have kidnapped you and placed you inside a treasure chest! Your friends, the villager Gobus, are trying to set you free from the terror of humans! Too often are goblins and "cursed" swords portrayed negatively when in reality, they just want to live peacefully amongst each other.

controls:
1. Left click to launch yourself. (The red will damage everything in its path - the blue is... safer...sometimes...)
2. Right click to drag Gobus and Knights your way

Please explain how your game fits the theme:
You're literally a sword. Kind of useless alone deep in the castle where the humans have casted spells to weaken you, but your powers grow as you steadily exit.

Also - the game evolved a lot from the initial GDD... hah hah

Is there anything you'd like the judges to pay particular attention to?
Please notice the swords art at the intro scene. The artist spent a good amount of love and care into it.

The mechanics are silly. The game may be hard. Either way, I hope our efforts have enabled us to provide an enjoyable time!

Funny little game, got to level 20. I think the Gobus need target on the right side of the screen that’s based on their Y location because as it is, they all aim towards the top right of the screen and clog up. Game could go in some crazy cool directions, maybe you can mutate Gobus to stronger types so you are creating an army. Would love to see more upgrades from each level as well, I can only increase range so far, haha.

Thanks for playing!  Level 20 is pretty good! More Gobu/Knight types were stretch goals but didn't make the deadline unfortunately. Randomized Y location for the Gobus would definitely give more breathing space. I wanted to "zoom out" the playable field or just make it bigger once the player left the castle to give it more of a battlefield feel with environmental hazards. Maybe in a future patch!

At the start i was confused because i could kill my fellow goblins but i quickly got the hang of it and i must say its fun! a bit hard but i like the challenges

Thanks for playing! Friendly fire was a hard choice to make, but we figured a blades edge does not discriminate.
