  • Even with a simple GDD, you explained your game idea fairly well. I also appreciated that you included your music inspiration; which may or may not be because I also like Juniper Vale, haha. The game itself had a unique combination of mechanics for everything that I rather enjoyed! Your take on the theme was also interesting! Being a dog, you are indeed your own weapon. I will note that the health-to-damage-output ratio seemed a bit off. If I wanted to stay safe, I would have to wait for quite a while to let my health regenerate to a proper amount that wouldn't let me get killed in the next fight I went into. Otherwise I was having fun play! I also wanted to note that it took several minutes to actually load the game after clicking "run game" on the page. It may just be because I was in Google Chrome, but I wanted to let you know. Overall, I had fun playing minus the waiting.

Have you checked that your GDD is publicly accessible ?
Yes

Is your game set to public on itch.io so we can see it?
Yes

Summarise your game!
The player controls a character and has to use his bare hands (paws) and his head to kill the enemies. He can move freely through the room, battle against the enemies and fight your way out of the laboratory.

Please explain how your game fits the theme:
‘You are the weapon’ interpretation - The player's body is the weapon. Either by fighting with their bare hands/paws or using their body otherwise.
Use your head to solve your problems.

Is there anything you'd like the judges to pay particular attention to?
The game contains pixel spiders, player discretion advised

I had some issues with the RMB movement and spacebar for movement - I kept accidentally opening up the developer tools on your game's web page lol. Otherwise, the inputs felt pretty responsive. I think you could improve the game significantly by adding in some goals to drive interactions between the main character and enemies (e.g. some exposition, an EXP bar, or some UI elements to give the player feedback). Additionally, it would've been great to see you lean more heavily into the main character's mutant powers! The head explosion attack was nice, but losing HP felt overly punishing.

Thank you for playing our game and thanks for the honest feedback. We really appreciate that

Using health to explode the head is a clever idea! The right mouse button as movement is very easy to understand. For improvement, clicks should set a destination point instead for more comfort like the hero movement in Dota 2. The finger gets sore if the mouse button needs to be held down the whole game.
The dash needs to be reworked in my opinion. It feels like the screen skipped forward instead.
The background caused some eye strain like an optical illusion.
The gameplay fits the theme perfectly.

Thanks for playing our game and thanks for the feedback.

Our art guy already sent a reworked version of the Tiles into our group chat and our developer is super motivated to keep working on this game and to improve it and the feedback gives him good pointers to where to star

I liked the game idea!

I was a bit confused at first about what I should do, but once the spider went all in on me, I figured it out.

Great concept! I just wish the character had more abilities.

Overall, a good game!

Thanks for playing our game :)

Thank you for the feedback!

We originally planned for the body parts to be used as projectiles, but since this is our first game, we didn't have enough time, and experience to implement this idea. Maybe we'll add this feature to our game later.

Time constraints can be hard to work around, but body parts as projectiles definitely sounds like it would've been really cool! I think if the player had more health and maybe there were more enemies to explode, it would add a lot of fun. Exploding felt most satisfying and i kept wanting to use it more before dying
