  • Cyber Plague was very fun and called back to its inspiration material very well. I found myself going down the red tree and enjoyed the brute force strategy. From what I saw of the three skill trees, mechanics for developing your computer virus were well defined for a first draft. I would say this met the theme of the competition, although it was a bit of a stretch. Perhaps more storyline entries about the nature of the computer virus used, or the corporation being technically destroyed, would assist with the world building. The art style of the game was good, and mechanical information was easy to parse at this stage, although some animations for the scenery pieces would go a long way. You should add a musical score to the game! Thank you very much for this submission to Pirate Software Game Jam 16.

Have you checked that your GDD is publicly accessible ?
Yes

Is your game set to public on itch.io so we can see it?
Yes

Summarise your game!
the main gameplay to click on the computers to start corrupting them, you can get skills in a skill tree to get more powerful, and you have to pay attention to pnj's event and the antivirus.

Please explain how your game fits the theme:
we tried to litteraly make the player "the weapon", as he has to corrupt every computer in an office.

Cool game. Seeing numbers go up makes brain release happy juices.
One thing I would recomend is to add simple sound effects on "virus upload completion". This would make the brain release more happy juices.

I really liked the concept of this game, but have a few pieces of feedback:

  • The description says we're working to infect an entire floor, but every level is a new floor. Maybe change the goal to conquering an entire office building?
  • It's not clear from the jump that you can only choose one skill tree to level up. I would expect to have to level up multiple types of skills to progress.
  • I can level up the entire tree I select within the first three levels. This is probably too fast.
  • The reason I can level up entirely is because the anti-virus is always working on one computer, there's no possible way (that I can find) to infect all computers at the same time. Without an anti-virus cooldown, there will always be one partially disinfected computer.
  • It's unclear how a computer virus can "stop" the employee from helping the anti-virus. And I don't exactly want it to. I want the anti-virus to take longer to give me time to infect the other computers. The employee helping it go faster is actually helping my cause.
  • I don't think some of the skill tree effects are working. For instance, I'm supposed to be able to randomly infect one other computer, but that doesn't happen.

Like I said, I really like the idea. I could see myself playing a clicker like this for a while, but it needs a little more work to get there!

Developer

first, thanks for trying the game and giving your feedback.

In the description i wrote "your goal is to corrupt an entire 5 floor office." but maybe my phrasing wasn't very clear or it's not what you are referencing to ? either way i change it to "your goal is to corrupt an entire office." so it's more clear. and most of the other things are due to lack of time. everything couldn't be tested thoroughly. the antivirus always being here and the employee helping the antivirus was kind of done so you can't softlock yourself because they allow you to gain skill points (clicking on the desk while an employee is on it give a skill point). As you said at the end it does need a little more work especially on the antivirus part i think.

for the skill tree effect of corrupting another random desk it works when i try it, so maybe there something that causes it to not work I'll look into it thanks !
