Questions: Kickstarter; Demo; Selection Criteria; Winner announcement

Hello PGMMV support team;

First, thank you for the opportunity, this is an amazing chance for indie developers, either to become big or to check what is missing to become. Having a game published on Switch will end up only as a dream for many, and this is a chance given only for the PGMMV developers. Thank you for this.

I have some questions regarding the PGMMV Development Challenge 2020;

1) Regarding: "Games that have been made available [...] any other form of commercialization are disqualified from entry."
Is "Kickstarter" considered an other form of commercialization? If not, would I be able to fulfill promises made with my backers, such as giving free copies, even though I would not be in control of the Steam account publishing the game?

2) After submission, I still want to be able to sell my game in the event I lose, which is why I do not want to upload the full game for free for evaluation. Am I allowed to put the free "demo" version of my game to be judged, and if it wins, to have the "full" game published? Stretching this, would a document containing the contents of the full version be welcome to add some perspective for the judges?

3) For the Selection Criteria "Potential", should I write down somewhere what are my plans for the sequels/future of the game? Where would it be the most convenient?

4) From February 7th, how much time will be needed to announce the winner?

I apologize if my questions sounds selfish, but they are honest questions. My unemployment insurance goes until February (sadface), so I am worried about how much time it would take for me to be able to make any profit from this project, through the Dev Challenge or self publishing.

Once again, thank you for the opportunity, and if I can't participate, I am very envious of whoever gets to be published on Switch.

Hello Saotru! Thank you very much for your questions, and for your interest in the contest.

Here are the answers, please feel free to let us know if you have any follow up questions!

1) Kickstarter is not considered as commercialisation.

Once the judges have decided of the Grand Prize, GGG and PLAYISM will discuss with the winner. At that moment, details for the publishing proposal including crowdfunding and backer prizes will be reviewed.

2) We understand that only 3 months is quite short for building a full game so a demo is more than enough for our evaluation. Only the demo will be judged so it is not necessary to prepare additional documentation for the judges.

3) The Potential evaluation criteria is more referring to the feeling of the judges playing the game, if they feel like they want to see more about the game and if the game's world can be extended. You do not need to write it in your application but sequels plans ect. can be discussed between the publishers and the winner.

4) We plan to announce the results in June 2021, but the announcement date can change due to unexpected circumstances.

Have a great weekend ahead!
