Why set game to public?

I was just thinking..
If the winning game is to be published(and sold) on Switch/Steam/other platforms, wouldn't having the free game on itch.io affect sales?

Hi!

Thanks for your question!

We thought a lot about the pro and cons to open to public, but we really want to hear the public's voices.

Also, the winning game won't probably be published as it is: there might be a need for debug or localization in another language, the developer might ask for more time to finish or polish the game, and so on... so the final version of the game might be different than the one made for the contest!

Let's say I didn't win the contest. Can I still publish  or other publishers to publish my game.? Is a 1 hour demo enough to enter the contest?

Hi! Thanks for your questions!

Yes, if you are not selected as a winner you can publish with another publisher or self-publish your game.

A one hour game is totally fine to enter the contest.
