to start of a potencial new hobby, I wanted to join a GameJam and found this one. Do you guys have any advice what I should avoid etc.? And is it even possible to paticipate as a single person?

Yes you can of course participate as an individual! 

Jams are for learning new things and experimenting, so main recommendations are to keep your game as simple as possible and dont worry if you don’t get fully finished, just enter whatever you make.

(also if you want to get the most plays i always recommend to make something playable in browser if possible)
