I think the slice attack and regular attack feel really nice. There are a few features that would make the game much better.

  • Add enemy health bar. Sometimes I couldn't tell what health they were at because at times I wouldn't be able to tell if I had hit them.
  • Add enemy hurting sound. This feature will effectively communicate to player if the enemy has been hit
  • For the drone looking enemy, I think adding a little animation or warning before they shoot will make the game easier. I often waited to long or to little for them to shoot.

Some bugs?:

  • Player seems to shake when moving. Might be a hard feature to remove (I understand)
  • Sometimes my attacks feel like they aren't hitting? The amount of hits it takes to kill the enemy is inconsistent. Either the health is random or my hits are not landing even though the slash animation is on them, either way, being able to see a health bar and or hear a hurting sound would resolve this issue.

Overall, the fighting/movement mechanics felt really nice to use (especially the slice dashing mechanic) but it felt unresponsive when used towards enemies. The art was also nice and simple, the enemy AI was well made, and the retro vibe was cool. Keep at it with game dev!

thanks for the feedback! I was planning on adding a hurting sound tomorrow along with the leaderboard. Also it seems like the game lags a lot on web, and some melee attacks don't register, but when an executable runs it seems fine (though the melee hitbox is quite dodgy if I were to say so myself). also the player shaking is probably due to my lack of skill in art, since i tried to make a sprite-stacked player but it looks kinda off.

Anyways, thanks again for the feedback! seems like a hitsound makes bigger difference than I thought.
