I think the slice attack and regular attack feel really nice. There are a few features that would make the game much better.

  • Add enemy health bar. Sometimes I couldn't tell what health they were at because at times I wouldn't be able to tell if I had hit them.
  • Add enemy hurting sound. This feature will effectively communicate to player if the enemy has been hit
  • For the drone looking enemy, I think adding a little animation or warning before they shoot will make the game easier. I often waited to long or to little for them to shoot.

Some bugs?:

  • Player seems to shake when moving. Might be a hard feature to remove (I understand)
  • Sometimes my attacks feel like they aren't hitting? The amount of hits it takes to kill the enemy is inconsistent. Either the health is random or my hits are not landing even though the slash animation is on them, either way, being able to see a health bar and or hear a hurting sound would resolve this issue.

Overall, the fighting/movement mechanics felt really nice to use (especially the slice dashing mechanic) but it felt unresponsive when used towards enemies. The art was also nice and simple, the enemy AI was well made, and the retro vibe was cool. Keep at it with game dev!

This feels like something Dani would make and I love it lol

If you continue this game even out of the jam, I'd definatly play it in my free time. The concept is really nice.

This game singlehandedly motivated me to make my own movement stradegy

You can checkout the video in the page, I speedran it and recorded it (Its a lot of bhopping)

Ik, I hate it too but idk how to code sloped collision on GMS 2 :(((((

Very solid game overall! (I *was* the world record holder :D)

Movement feels really polished and forgiving, artstyle/lighting and camerawork is stunning, and sound design is good. My only issue is that I wish the transition for restarting or dying would be faster, I find myself dying alot so most times im just waiting for that transition to go away lol. Problably one of my favorite games of this jam!

Sounds are really nice as they perfectly que me when im getting too hot, the visuals are nice as they are pleasing to look at even with its simplistic artstyle, it incorpates the theme well and also is hella fun to play!

Visuals are stunning! I like the lighting and the simple art for the player, pc parts, etc.

I love the visuals! It's very appealing and the driving mechanics feel really clean while also being simple.

Oh, yeah I was using the web version on windows 10. I had problems porting my game to web as well, I just gave up all together lol. Hopefully this helps!

Me too

Contrary to what others say, implementing loot locker was kind of easy actually. Gamemaker Studio 2 made it easy is why (at least from what I think). The hardest part was level designing. For some reason I decided that my game was gonna have relatively nice designs which meant that designing it would take so much longer. I originally planned 5 maps but because of the time crunch, I had to reduce it to four. The game still came out great though and it was fun!

Particle effects are really nice!

Heres my game!:  https://noodlesoup290.itch.io/above-zero

Thats a good idea. Next time I work on this game again, I'll implement that feature :D

I wish the movement controls were inverted. I expected left to turn counter clockwise and right to turn clockwise.

Movement felt clean, but terrain is very counter intuitive.

Amazing game! The overall feel and mechanics of the player and enemies feel really nice. The art style is also amazing.

Overall a very solid game with beautiful visuals

Very solid car game! Incorporates the theme well.

Strat: Spam space

I like the art style and sound design but the shooting felt unresponsive at times, either the bullet  didn't come out of the gun or the enemy wouldn't take damage.

Yep, its a game

I really dont know how people beated this in one minute

The melting mechanic was beautifully implemented!

Fire sprites are really nice, fireball projectiles ZOOM.

I love the coding minigame for the laptops! Gameplay felt polished.

Controls feel good! This game has great speedrun potential.

I got stuck on the submarine after putting a person in it :(

Other than that, this would be a cool time killer. Very funny and goofy game :D

Oh ok. Thanks for the help! I wish all you guys the best of luck in this jam!

Hello! I read on the rules, "All games should include a small timer and leaderboard (offline or online)." What is an "offline leaderboard"? Is it a leaderboard that only tracks your time or what?
