I say this within but it bears repeating:

This guide has information for how I wrote devices in the writing of Project ECCO. This is not the "right" way by any means. It is meant only to be as prescriptive as is helpful for your project.

This is super handy! Especially the percentage breakdown of exploration vs. special events. Do you find that leaning one way or the other more changes the average game length significantly?

I don't have any empirical evidence of this but my thought would be that including more special events, namely Entity Encounters and Agency Headquarters, would push the story forward quicker. On the other hand, if you write a device without either of those special events, it becomes something a player could spend more time with without strictly "advancing" the story, almost like a side quest.
